Miss J’s Amazing Bachelorette Party!

September 24th, 2008 @ 3:00 pm by Mrs. Taffy

Earlier this summer, Miss J’s super creative maid of honor put together the best bachelorette party that I have ever attended. The maid of honor hosted the party at her home. We didn’t have any plans to go out, which was a huge relief. Sometimes it’s way more fun to stay in and not have to worry about bar hopping and driving, let alone creepy guys who hassle the bride-to-be (I have seen this happen a lot). Also, Michigan hasn’t banned smoking in bars yet, and I hate coming home smelling like an ashtray.

The “Silver Screen Siren” themed agenda included cocktails, sassy snacks and cute bridal cupcake consumption, dressing up, doing Hollywood-esque hair and makeup, trying on wigs and hats, conducting random photo shoots with the backdrop that was set up the whole night, costume changes, watching vintage movies, and showering Miss J with cute underthings for her honeymoon. There was also a sign up sheet at the door, where each guest had to make up a name for the night using a title or name from three different columns. I think mine was Miss Trixie Deluxe. K’s was Duchess Von Bosom… you get the idea. :) We had a blast!

On to the pictures! First up, we have the stunning bachelorette herself:

Doesn’t she look amazing?

Here Miss K displays the makeup table that we set up—notice the cute dressing room lights, courtesy of my wonderful maid of honor Miss L:

Another demonstration by me, in my favorite vintage dress that I own!

I wore Miss K’s cute crochet gloves, but my engagement ring wouldn’t fit on my finger! I had some pinky bling instead:

Here are the amazing cupcakes that Sparky made and decorated:

We loved the photo booth! :)

I love love love this dress. I found it in L.A. about three years ago. I seriously considered wearing it as a wedding dress… maybe I will change into it for an after party?

I have never seen so many feathers and sequins in my life, and I have seen a lot! ;)

Miss J at the end of the night, eating tiny plastic grooms. Notice the rack of dress up clothes behind her, and the old Hollywood film on screen.

That’s about it! We had the best time ever. Having the photo shoot area was great, as you can see we loved it and have some really fun pictures. Speaking of which, all pictures here were taken by me or Mrs. A, or whichever party girl was standing behind the tripod at the photo area. :) Photoshop filmstrips and the silver screen were by Mrs. A.

@ Teshawnda:

Pimping your service is so very uncool. If you want clients, put together a marketing plan which includes advertising on Weddingbee… they have great rates and can really increase your traffic…. and quite frankly, I believe that the return will be a heck of a lot better than looking desperate in the comments…

@Loyal Reader: This is definitely not a matter of pimping my services. I am featured in 2 bridal magazines as well as I have a continued book of cliental and referrals. I was just making a suggestion that can be of use or it doesn’t have to be. You have your own opinion as everyone does. However, you were not being spoken to. I also have many advertisements that are currently ran featuring my business online as well as in bridal magazines that is bringing me much traffic, so starting a business partnership with the Weddingbee site is not an interest of mine at this moment. Having an urgent need or desire is the true meaning of the word desperate and that does not define my intentions in reference to the comment I made to Miss Taffy, not you (let’s be reminded). I wanted to give her a professional complimentary opinion. Now, that I have handed you back your face, let me end this comment with “you have a nice day”, and if you reply back, I will not respond because at this point you are not worth my time or energy. Let me give you a word for the day “Hater” look in the mirror and the reflection you see will define the meaning. Not mad at all, just speaking truthfully… :-)

Miss Taffy - I love the theater photo! Where can I find a larger version of it? (And the filmstrips!)

@Laura: eeep, sorry about my super late reply!!! My friend Amy did the theater and filmstrip photoshop stuff, but I am assuming that she did a google image search for filmstrip and vintage theater and then put our images in. I will let you know if she went anywhere specific. :)
