I didn’t know much going into wedding planning, but I did know I wanted to milk the wedding for as much fun and celebration as I could. While I didn’t want to plan a destination wedding in the traditional sense, I began thinking of our wedding weekend as a destination wedding for many of our guests.
This was one of the reasons we chose to get married during Fiesta—we will have built in entertainment all weekend long! I’ve already shared with y’all the awesomeness that is Fiesta and I can’t wait to share it with our guests. Thus, we decided to throw a Fiesta themed welcome dinner and invite all of our guests in lieu of a traditional rehearsal dinner. Fiesta week is such a vibrant time of year in San Antonio, and I really wanted to convey that to our friends and family. While I normally shy away from bright colors, I’m full-on embracing them for the decor of this party! We’ll be incorporating orange, hot pink, bright lime green, teal, and yellow for a colorful and happy fete.
Choosing the venue was a bit harder than narrowing down the color palette.
We really wanted something traditional, yet we also wanted it to be close to the wedding venue and hotel, and have a private room that could accommodate 150 guests. I was going crazy listing my favorite restaurants in my hometown and crossing each of them off the list, as none of them met all of the above criteria. I polled Mr. Lemonade on his favorite eateries in SA-town, and his list ended up looking eerily similar to mine. It was then that we decided to revamp our criteria. Once we were a bit more flexible on the location, we realized that we were both leaning towards the same spot. I called them, requested info, and sent it on to FFIL Lemonade. He was a bit wary of our choice since it is located downtown and the dinner is on a Friday (oh rush hour, how I love thee). However, he was sold once we told him we’d factor in extra driving time for everyone, and the restaurant has its own FULL SIZED parking lot! Score!
I am so excited to be celebrating there! We’ll be kicking it in the Estrella room. Check it out:

The super colorful entrance. Don’t you think it’d make a great backdrop for some fun photos?

Planning this event has been so much fun and a nice diversion from the actual wedding planning! Stay tuned for more on the incredible and very diverse menu, tons of DIY decor, and a surprise twist on the traditional welcome dinner!
