Wedding Inspiration: Neopolitan Ice-Cream

September 26th, 2008 @ 4:02 pm by Miss Dumpling

When I showed Mr. Dumpling the color palette I was thinking about, he said it looked like Neapolitan ice cream. Ha! We both like ice cream, so this was a good thing. This picture accurately shows the exact colors we are using. It’s making me hungry just looking at it!

I was browsing through The Knot the other day, and I found more great inspiration from some very stylish brides. Check these out!

Awesome wedding favors from Knottie Diemmai

Candy Buffet from Knottie Nancy.

Even the flower girl can get in on the Neapolitan ice-cream goodness!

Dress is from Gymboree.

Flower girl/niece Dumpling… notice the shirt? Auntie Dumpling got it for her! I’m doing what I can to make sure she’s brought up with the right music.

Here’s a sneaky peek at our invitation suite. The pictures aren’t the best, but I hope you can see the colors—cream, brown and light pink.

Chocolate brown is a very popular color for weddings nowadays, and we definitely wanted to jump on the bandwagon. There are so many things you can do with chocolate brown as your main color. And who doesn’t like to score free chocolate at a wedding?

For example, this might be the most awesome thing I think I’ve ever seen (besides Mr. Dumpling):

Image from WeddingChannel.com

Yes, what you see there is a Ferrero Rocher used as a place card. I’m getting woozy thinking about how fantastic this is going to be. Thank you, WeddingChannel.com, for thinking of 1000 different ways to incorporate a little bit of heaven (aka chocolate) into weddings.

Have you ever been inspired by your favorite treat (or am I completely off my rocker)? If you’ve used these colors please send me a link to your photos!

I have the exact same colors with a cherry blossom theme. I alway loved chocolate and was actually going to do that and light blue but decided to change it because it was hard to match with flowers.

I love the invites!!

Our inspiration:
I knew right away I didn’t want table numbers ala, 1, 2, 3…I mentioned the idea of school grades so we could show pictures of us thru the years. Well FI was sure he wouldn’t have all grades from pre-school up so…a bulb come turns on and he says, “Chocolate!”

I laughed my head off and he was just like, “you know you like it. Its cute and we’re cute and silly so we could pull it off.” <–true story.

So we’re having tables named after candy bars. Our candy buffet will be a chocolate buffet and there’s even gonna be chocolates at the bar-bar but those are different than at the buffet. I’m having the more expensive chocolate at the bar. We got Lindt Truffles, Godiva and the teeny alcohol bottle chocolates for there. Finally, towards the end of the night a chocolate fountain is coming out.

I am TOTALLY stealing the Ferrero Roche concept. I was gonna tape a mini bar to the inside of the place card but the Ferrero Roche thing is far cuter. Thanks for sharing that amazing find!

OMG! Almost frogot to tell you. In front of the buffet a banner that says, “All you need is love…and chocolate.” Then when its time to take the garter off, I’m gonna have the DJ play, HELP! That’s my homage to The Fab Four :-D

So does the Beatles poster on my bedroom wall have to come down once I’m married?? Hehe

I’m doing this color scheme too! I’m trying to make it more antique-y/muted. It’s strange, I never thought about the ice cream as inspiration, but I love ice cream, so it definitely fits!

this is the exact color palette I had at my wedding too! I had the same flowergirl dresses. Its from Gymboree and its no longer available becuase it was from their Spring collection. What sizes are you looking for??? I had 5 flower girls in various sizes. I can see if I can get them back and sell it to you. I had bought all of them at $50 each but I can definitely discount it since it was worn. The toddlers only worn it for the ceremony and immediately changed out of it. I also paired them with pink ballerina flats from Payless. Let me know if you would be interested. I also, have a lot of extra wedding stuff left in pink and brown. I have pink pomanders I made too that they flowergirls carried. I can email you pix if you’re interested. Thanks! and Congrats! ac_espos@yahoo.com

Hello, I am using this same color scheme for my wedding. I am looking for ideas. What I’ve seen this far has been great. I see alot of bridesmaids with the brown on, what were the guys wearing? As the bride, I am wearing a soft pink gown, (Im losing some of the tradition)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

For our pink and brown wedding, we decided to go with the classic black tux, (rat pack style) and then purchased our own ties which were paisley brown, black, white. They tied it all together with the maids in espresso and created less of a right out of the tux shop appearance. Find ties you love for the guys with the brown and black, ( and maybe even a wee bit of pink ;) and you’ll be good to go!
