Mrs. Ballet Flat's Picture
Mrs. Ballet Flat, New Orleans Age and Occupation: 24, Geographic Information Systems Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, IT Analyst Engagement Date: March 16, 2008 Wedding Date: May, 2009 Blogging Since: September 25, 2008 Venue: St. Charles Borromeo Church/Jefferson-Orleans North About Me: I absolutely love wedding planning, spending time with Mr. Ballet Flat, various crafts, watching football, baking, pop music, bargain hunting and ice cream. My idea of a great date night is dinner and clearance shopping with Mr. Ballet Flat! I currently live below sea level in the suburbs near New Orleans, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with anything New Orleans related for our wedding, and I can't wait for the big day!
About Mrs. Ballet Flat

Hello Hive!

September 26th, 2008 @ 3:16 pm by Mrs. Ballet Flat

Hi everyone! I’m Miss Ballet Flat, and I’m really excited to be here in the hive! Weddingbee was one of the first wedding blogs that I discovered, and I just knew that I wanted to be a blogger here! Many of the Weddingbees constantly inspire me in my wedding planning, and I really hope to return the favor to other brides. Imagine my surprise when I was officially named Miss Ballet Flat!

I am a GIS (geographic information systems) analyst, which is a fancy name really for a map maker. However, I like the GIS analyst title better, because it’s a great conversation starter, and it makes me feel smarter! I majored in Geography Sciences at LSU (Geaux Tigers!), and I always kept myself busy around campus, being involved in about 4 extra-curricular organizations. So, after graduation, I feel like I hit a lull in work. Now that I’m engaged, I have something to definitely keep me busy for the next 8 months!

On a side note, in case you were wondering, yes, I’m a huge, wacky football fan. I even painted my face every game for my senior year! I learned to love the game at LSU. I mean, how could you not with 90,000+ other people cheering the same way as you every Saturday night in the Fall? For your viewing entertainment, here I am in my painted face glory. My face reads “Beat Bama” (sorry Bama fans!).

I chose to be Miss Ballet Flat, because I’m 5′11″. I would love to wear heels often, but I feel like I tower over people. So, I wear flats, a lot. Mr. Ballet Flat and I are about the same height as well, and I don’t like being taller than him either!

Enough about me, let’s talk about how we got here! Our story is a little bit out of the ordinary. Mr. Ballet Flat and I met when I was a junior at LSU through Yahoo Messenger. Our relationship only lasted a month, but we sporatically chatted over IM after the break up. Fast forward to my 5th year in school… something just happened. We were talking on the phone one night, and I really can’t remember the details of the conversation, but by the end of the night, we wanted to give dating another shot. 16 wonderful months later, on my birthday, we were engaged!!

I’m so excited about being a part of the hive! I can’t wait to share with you my ideas, projects and eventually, pictures of the big day!! Thanks for reading!!

Welcome! It’s exciting to see another Southern bee on here! I actually live in New Orleans, so I’m excited to hear about your wedding planning here.

Oh, and Alli, I’ll be cheering with you at the UGA v. LSU game - I’m a diehard Bulldog in the midst of Tigers… Go Dawgs!

Woo-hoo for 5′11″ girls! I also wore pseudo ballet flats for my wedding - they were more like peep toe sandals, but still super cute! :)

Welcome to the hive! :)

Welcome Miss Ballet Flat!! Don’t worry, I had to exclude the entire football season when trying to pick a wedding date. I couldn’t waste a perfectly good Saturday of football on a wedding! Go Gators!!!!!

You’re right, there’s nothing like Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. My fiance’s groom’s cake is a replica of tiger stadium (complete with scoreborad). Welcome, again!

P.S. Geaux Tigers!!!!

I like you already! Yeah, all it really takes for me is a girl who paints her face purple & gold. The only thing that sucks about living in Colorado (which I otherwise ADORE) is I don’t get to watch LSU play every Saturday on tv here!
Geaux Tigers!

My best friend has a similar dating story. Dated on and off throughout the years, then one day they were out snowboarding together and he went by and she said “I love him” and then they got married 6 months later. Can’t wait to hear your entire story!

Welcome, Miss Ballet Flat. I appreciate having another football fan around the Hive. We’re Michigan fans, and didn’t even consider a fall wedding. If we did, I don’t think anyone would have attended, our wedding party included. ;)
