Monogram Cake Topper

September 26th, 2008 @ 12:59 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

After searching and searching for a wedding cake topper, we never found anything that we could picture being on top of our cake. The traditional bride and groom toppers look nothing like Mr. Spring Roll and I, and although cute, animal toppers aren’t for me. I could have opted for no topper, however, a cake without a topper is incomplete in my eyes. After several weeks of contemplating, we decided to go with a monogram cake topper.

I ordered a 5 inch (based on the website recommendation for a top layer of 6 inches) ’W’ in Scriptina font from Wedding Cuts for $32.85. Additionally, I purchased one box of orange and pink peel-and-stick rhinestones for around $4 at Jo-Ann. Using a pair of tweezers, I peeled off the adhesive from each rhinestone and placed them on one by one, alternating between the colors.

While working on our cake topper, I looked over to my left and found Isabella getting into her “toy box”. She was very determined to find a certain item, resulting in her jumping into the box. She came out with a chew hide, one of the dozen she has floating around the house.

What does your cake topper look like?

oooooh, super cute! :)

I once covered the toes of my rollerskates with rhinestones, it took forever.

The cake topper turned out great. Love that your doggie buried her bone in her toy box. She is so cute, her own toy box.

Aww I love the puppy pics. My dog does the same thing with her toy box, and if she can’t reach what she wants, she barks at it until I dump everything out on the floor for her to pick through.
Lovely cake topper, too :)

Even though I’ve delegated the task of choosing the cake to my Mom, we’re probably going to go with a Monogram Cake Topper too. I never thought of jazzing it up like that. Very cute!

We went with a monogram from Wedding Cuts, as well. It was because our cake vendor only uses toppers ordered through them…and they use WC as one of their “topper” vendors, but I really liked the variety of monograms that they have.

Although we didn’t use Scriptina for our topper, we did use it in nearly all of our stationery. I love it.

I love the way the rhinestones came out- my friend customized her monogram cake topper in a similar way and she found it kind of difficult to make the crystals look nice and neat (and not jumbled). I found a nice affordable full crystal monogram cake topper at WeddingCollectibles.com for about $30.00….

Hobby Lobby has hanging letters is black.. we are going to spray paint gold and then attach stones and then put a large spray of “bling beads behind” for a “bursting effect” :) The letter was 1.99 with 1/2 off.
