Dress You Up in My Love

September 26th, 2008 @ 3:37 pm by Miss Sweet Tea

… Er, or maybe not. Sorry, my <3 of old-school Madonna compelled me to start off the post on my after-party dress this way. He he he…

So, I still haven’t gone over my wedding dress saga with you all, but at least one dress is set—a fabulous eco-friendly dress I scored at the Barney’s Co-Op Outlet last month. The shopping mission of the day was looking for Mr. ST’s attire (which we got!) but I came upon the last two of these Phillip Lim dresses, both in my size! The retail price is way over my budget, but thanks to the dress being on clearance sale at the already-reduced outlet store, I got it for a great price!

The dress is made of 100% organic cotton and is part of Lim’s mini-collection exclusively for Barney’s called Go Green Go.

It’s hard to tell on the mannequin (only pic I could find- sorry!) but it has a very fun and flirty Marilyn Monroe kind of look. The top is pretty risque for me, actually—the dress has no sides, only those straps up top. I’ll have to make sure the top panels don’t move that night or it may be an unintended peep show! Any tips on keeping the dress attached to my skin? Masking tape?!?

Since I will have a vintage-inspired hairstyle and these hot red Max Studio silk pumps on anyway, I think it will be a fun 50s look, perfect for bar-hopping after the reception ends!

Where did you find your after-party dress?

Fashion tape and nipple petals. You can get both at Target.

Use toupee tape you can pick up at a beauty/hair supply store. Works the same way as double sided fashion tape. And then use baby oil to help soothe your skin when you gotta rip it off at the end of the night.

Love the shoes!

@l3r0wnEyedGurL: I found them on sale one day while browsing in the Max Studio store! I think you can buy them online on the Max Studio website too, if they’re not sold out yet.

@soontobeewed: The style name is “Tucker.” I bought it at the Max Studio store here in SD way back in Feb/March so maybe they are sold out on the Max Studio site? Maybe try Ebay or Zappo’s? Good luck!
