Flower Inspiration for Blue Brides

September 29th, 2008 @ 4:45 pm by Mrs. Taffy

Blue color palette brides, of course! :)

I would love to share some of my favorite blue themed bouquet ideas from the knot.  But first, look at this fun alternative to a bouquet!

I love this idea - it would be such a fun DIY project, and a great cost effective alternative to a bouquet! Also, if you are planning a day after or week after photo shoot, why not make something like this instead of ordering or making an extra bouquet for later?

If I do a bridal shoot with Melissa, I would love to make something like this. :) (Miss Meatball, I totally thought of you when I saw this after your description of decor for your “almost” venue!)

Ok, on to the more traditional:

The upper left corner is my favorite- I love the blue to white ratio. If you have a blue color palette but are planning on using an all white bouquet, these would be great for the bridesmaids. :)Are you planning on carrying a non traditional bouquet?

We’re having paper flowers in white, midnight blue and silver to match everything else. We’ll probably have some fabric ones too for corsages. Even our centrepieces will be paper.

I think this is actually an old Irish custom - for the bride to wear a horseshoe for luck and a happy marriage. It’s a great idea, even if you’re not Irish - especially since flowers are so expensive, and there’s the possibility that you might not get what you wanted when the bouquet arrives.

@toots: I was wondering if this was some sort of custom, thanks for the info! :) I recently went to a Macedonian wedding where important guests brought the bride fabrics that they draped over her arms like this.

Our palette is Aqua and a deep ocean blue… so I (and my bridesmaids) will be carrying bright tropical bouquets because I hate hydrangeas and almost every other flower is actually purple, or looks really nice in a garden setting…and we’ll be on the beach. =)

Blue hydrangeas hold a very special place in my heart. My color scheme doesn’t include blue, but Id use them if it did.

I am using hot pink, orange, and yellow roses to go along with my blue wedding. I wasn’t fond of any blue flowers, so I figured this was the best road to take!
