On Saturday, Mr. Candy Corn and I met up with our wedding photographers & friends, Laura & Michael to scout locations within the Penn Museum for our wedding photos. The beautiful on-site gardens were obvious contenders for group shots, so we were on a mission to find indoor locations that would make for some great portraits. Michael & I were both sick with a dizzy/sore throat thing, but we managed to survive, despite the looming threat of being attacked by mummies. All photos © Laura Kicey.

Even though there’s an abundance of headless peenies floating around, the Roman World gallery has quite a lot of charm and will most likely be one of the locations for taking some family portraits during cocktail hour (although, Grandma will be blushing I’m sure).

Mr. Candy Corn just couldn’t resist. Le sigh.

We really lucked out with the current exhibit, Surviving: The Body of Evidence, which will be open to our guests. The exhibit is filled with all sorts of goodies: monkeys, fetuses, weird pregnant-lady-shaped mirrors and skulls. Lots and lots of skulls.

This room in particular lends itself to our bird theme and is just what we’re looking for in terms of “artsy” wedding portraits together.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t the best model considering the whole feeling-like-poo thing, but these photos are proof that their work is just what we’re looking for in terms of color and composition.

This room had seven of these booths, which is a perfect location for Mr. CC to sit with the six of his groomsmen for group shots.

Sure it’s offbeat, but I’m really looking forward to skulltastic wedding photos. This section of the museum was by far my favorite, plus it was the only air conditioned room, so that makes it even more fab for a girl with a rising fever.

Although the peculiar lighting will make the lives of our photographers extra difficult, we are excited by the idea of doing family shots in the Lower Egyptian Gallery, which looks like it came right out of an episode of “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”

We’re now just two weeks away from stepping foot in the museum for the last time as a “single” couple. I couldn’t be any more excited… although I’m hoping whatever cold I have will be gone by then!
Did anyone else scout locations for their photos, or did you just go with the flow on the day-of?
