A DIY a Day Keeps the Stress Away

September 29th, 2008 @ 12:17 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

Planning our wedding has been a bit stressful. However, as crazy as it may seem, it has also kept me sane. I love crafting and having a project to work on. No matter how big or small the project may be, it is relaxing and rewarding to me. Today, my project was small; I made ‘reserved’ signs for wedding chairs that immediate family will be seated in.

Below you will find a tutorial on how I made the signs.

Supplies needed:

  • Photoshop or similar editing program
  • Card stock (8 ½”x11” standard printing paper size)
  • Hole puncher
  • Ribbon (purchased from Wal-Mart 2/$1)
  • Trimmer or good pair of scissors

Steps:

1. Using Photoshop or a similar editing program, design a ‘reserved’ sign

2. Print the design in 3 ½”x5” size onto card stock paper

3. Using a trimmer or a good pair of scissors, trim card stock into desired size (My card ended up being approximately 5” wide by 4” tall)

4. Punch a hole into the top right and top left corners using a hole puncher

5. Cut ribbon into desired length (I cut my ribbon to be 36” long)

6. String ribbon through card

Has planning your wedding been stressful or stress-free? What methods do you use to cope with the stress?

How does one “make a design” on photoshop? I just don’t get it. Anyone have any links to some simple tutorials?

Is your “reserved” spelled correctly? In the post it looks like it is spelled recerved. Just want to make sure.

These look great, Miss Spring Roll! I’m loving the pink and orange!

@ Lex: Scriptina’s ’s’ looks a lot like a ‘c’! If you look at the Photoshop screen shot, you can tell that there’s a little loop at the bottom to designate it as an ’s’

@Jodi: Thanks for explaining the font :)

@Angielea: By “design” I didn’t mean to create from scratch, sorry for the confusion. I opened the floral image file and placed text over the image.

Cute! I am having such a hard time finding cute graphics like the one you have there… floral but solid color. Is that something from Photoshop?

@Miss Spring Roll: @Miss Spring Roll:
Thank you so much! Did you design it yourself or did you find it online? LoL I am trying to discover where everyone is getting all of the artwork for their DIY projects.
