Telling Them Apart

Another Shortcake DIY coming your way!

We made these bouquet charms as a handy dandy way for the bridal party to keep their bouquets separate (why does “keep it secret, keep it safe” immediately spring to mind? :) ) They were very simple to construct, and took very little time to put together.

A how-to? Here goes!

sc2.JPG

MATERIALS:

  • wire in the colour and the gauge of your choice (but nothing too thick)
  • beads of your choice. It works to either have different beads or different colours for the different bridesmaids
  • charms of your choice (try Michael’s, or even cheap teen jewelry stores for charm bracelets)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • cut a length of wire that will be long enough, when folded in half, to not only dangle down from the top of the bouquet handle, but also to be inserted into the bouquet handle itself underneath the ribbon
  • cut enough wire for each of your bouquets
  • fold each wire in half
  • begin stringing. Start with the charm, then add however many beads you think looks pretty.
  • twist the two wires together at the top, above the last bead
  • repeat
  • admire
  • give to your florist! :)

Do you have a creative way to distinguish all the bouquets?

That’s a really cute idea! I was thinking of doing something with their initials to distinguish them, but I haven’t figured out exactly what yet.

oooh, yes! I just found little rhinestone initials of all the bm’s at Michael’s in their 1$ section for exactly this purpose. Now I know how they can be added to their bouquets thanks to you! YES! Your the best Miss Shortcake!

What a great idea, if you added a piece of fabric to sandwich the wire they could use it later as a bookmark!

@Vic004: we were looking for those, but couldn’t find them - we decided to go with birds because it goes with our “birds, ribbons, banners’ motif :)

Lovely, Shortcake, just lovely!! That is the first DIY that I am including in the To Be Done List for my sister’s wedding in December. I know I’ll find loads more whe I browse through rest of your blog.

I would love to look at the finished project if you care to put up a pic.

BTW, does anyone have any ideas or DIY projects for an Asian style wedding? I’d be really thankful if anyone can share tips.
