Mrs. Dumpling's Picture
Mrs. Dumpling, Las Vegas Age and Occupation: 27, Finance Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Real Estate Engagement Date: March, 2008 Wedding Date: March, 2009 Blogging Since: August 26, 2008 Venue: Catholic church ceremony & golf course reception About Me: I grew up in the Deep South, and while most people say I have a thick southern accent, I tend to think it only comes out when I need to use it. Living in Las Vegas has definitely been an adventure and Mr. Dumpling and I are loving every minute of it! We are planning a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony and a reception with lots of DIY! We might even get Elvis to show up! I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, love The Office and can't wait to become a Mrs.!

How Was Your Weekend?

September 30th, 2008 @ 2:23 pm by Mrs. Dumpling

Miss Dumpling spent Saturday doing lots and lots of errands. I’ve been procrastinating about doing wedding stuff because I have a fear of writing big checks. I’m sort of scared to see the money in our special bank account labeled “Wedding Fund” lose a digit. I’ve watched my fellow bees talk about paying the catering, photography, and venue deposits, and I guess I never really thought about how significant that was. Until yesterday, that is. Mr. Dumpling and I are now forced to eat ramen noodles for the next few years (carbs… yum!), because we finally took care of the catering for our wedding this weekend. One vendor down, about 27 more to go.

After that, he went about his business and I spent the rest of the afternoon working hard and doing fun wedding stuff.

First on the list: Get Carried away. What! It was research.

I now hold the record for watching this movie more than anyone on the planet.

Second: Stuff face with Red Mango:

I didn’t have my camera with me yesterday, but here’s a similar shot of me eating Pinkberry, which is pretty much the same thing.

Third: Ok… it’s time to get to work. I finally started to work on our invitations over the weekend. I decided to start with the RSVP cards thinking they would be the easiest, but it was a lot of work. Mr. Dumpling was very impressed with the outcome! I think he was a little nervous when I first told him that I wanted to make the invitations myself with a machine I bought off of eBay.

Did I tell you I was a messy crafter?

Please notice the little red Dirt Devil in the bottom of the picture. This is evidence that I did try to clean up after myself.

I’m starting on the invitations today and I’m a little nervous. Mostly I’m nervous because I can’t afford a back-up plan for our invitations in case I totally suck at the Gocco. The RSVP’s were easy enough, but getting the letters to transfer evenly was difficult. Cross your fingers, gals (and MANgo)!

Did anyone else spend their Saturday doing wedding things? Have you been procrastinating on your wedding planning?

Actually, my Saturday was spent meeting with the priest and sampling a rehearsal dinner prospect. :) Don’t worry about the mess…I’m really messy when I craft!

Those look great - good luck with the invites. I LOVED the Sex and the City movie. I could only dream of that closet!!! Watching this movie actually inspired me to have a great wedding dress with ruffles. I was going to go VERY simple before I saw Carrie’s dress, but I will NOT be wearing a bird on my head! LOL!

I hear ya with the emptying of the bank account!! This weekend I paid for the second half of my wedding dress deposit, picked out my wedding ring/band and put the deposit down for it. I feel SO broke! And if you hold the record for watching SATC the Movie; I think I hold for the record for over-eating Pinkberry! Love that place. :)

Miss Dumpling, you are giving me the guts to start on my Gocco projects too. My poor brand new Gocco has been sitting in the box since it was delivered by the ebay seller. I’m soo nervous that I am going to mess things up, and I too have no budget for back up…..eeeekkkk!
