More Monograms!

The first wedding dress I fell for was from J.Crew. It was simple, elegant, and very lovely, but what really got me excited was the awesome bridal monogramming that Crew would do. Ultimately, I chose not to order the lovely Sabine but I filed it away to make sure whatever gown I eventually purchased would be adorned with a personalized dress tag.

Personally, I’m partial to grosgrain over the satin and will probably rock a darker navy thread. I’m having a tough time deciding on the style of monogramming—they’re all so darn cute!!

Can you help me out? Which would you choose?

I purchased a light blue grosgrain monogram from EmbroiderybyLinda on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5371345. She is awesome!

I would definately use something that puts your full first names rather than initials. If your dress gets passed down in the family they will be able to trace it back to you. Just a thought.

No sure what you should use but I worked with MondeDesign on my garters and ring pillow…she rocks!

I worked with Victoria Joanne at HCC (Hand Crafted Creations)

http://www.hand-craftedcreations.com/

you can be as creative as you want, HCC made my garter out of my favorite skirt.

And my dress tag was unique, if you can think it up they can make it… and then you just get your seamstress to sew it in with your alterations.

I got my monogram dress tag from J.Crew and it was perfect.

I liked that it was just a quick phone call and that they only had one option (because as brides we sometimes we turn the smallest things into very complicated things).

I ordered mine from the silken thread and loved their work! I got a diamond monogram with our initials.I loved silken thread because I also ordered a matching hanky for my bouquet and a matching table runner for the escort table. However the label was satin, not grossgrain. I plan on donating my dress to charity after the wedding, so I wanted to be able to keep a piece of it (my dess is part satin). Do you plan to use your label as your something blue? That is how I checked mine off of the list:)

I worked with MondeDesigns and loved her! She was amazing, and I got my label in less than 2 days! I chose the one in the second picture that says “Michelle and Jeff”! It’s gorgeous and I get to wear that dress in 18 days! Good luck!

@Trebuchet: Cool, thanks! I’ll check it out!
@Jenn: Fantastic idea!
@Fallon: Too complicated?! Never…. j/k :)
@ErinMarieMack: It’s a great idea for a something blue, but my e-ring and my shoes will be my something(s) blue :)
@Anna: 18 days?!? Wowee! Congrats!

I used Monde Designs (actually, through her other site, http://www.gartermaker.net) for my dress label, and I LOVE it! I sent her a swatch from our bridemaid dress fabric, and she matched the thread to it (not blue). I got a border label with our first & middle names and the date of the wedding. It’s bigger than I thought it would be, but I loved knowing it was there. The likelyhood of our future children ever wearing my dress is pretty slim, but maybe the label could be used again somehow.
