About Mrs. Spring Roll

Equipped with my heavily dog-eared bridal gown catalog, along with the Spring Roll females (mom, FMIL, and sister), we visited David’s Bridal.

(Mom Spring Roll on my left and FMIL Spring Roll on my right)

Warning: No Mr. Spring Roll allowed past this point!

Knowing what works best on my body, I knew that I wanted a fitted strapless gown with bead and/or lace work. Shortly after thumbing through my dog-eared catalog, the sales associate brought over the first gown. I was a little disappointed with the first gown, and by the second gown I was feeling a little hopeless.

The sales associate that I was working with was also working with another bride. I was basically left alone as the other bride took most of the attention. Sister Spring Roll ended up selecting and bringing me gowns to try on. Upon putting on the gowns that Sister Spring Roll chose, the hopeless feeling vanished.

In the midst of trying on gowns, Mom Spring Roll handed me a very heavy beaded lace gown in ivory. I was worried about the weight and color, as I had intended on purchasing a medium weight taffeta gown in white. All of my worries disappeared the moment I put the gown on. I was stunned at how well the ivory complemented my pale skin tone and dark hair. My face lit up and I could not stop smiling; I knew it was the one. I could tell by FMIL Spring Roll’s face that she knew as well.

Even though I knew I had found the one, I tried on a few other gowns to please Mom Spring Roll. Mom Spring Roll wanted me to be certain, as she knows that I am fast to jump to decisions. With each gown I tried on, I couldn’t stop thinking about my beautiful beaded lace gown. Unfortunately the $1,000 price tag was a little out of my means. The sales associate failed to mention that every gown in the store was on sale. FMIL Spring Roll noticed the sign and inquired, my gown was on sale for $800. Along with some help from an angel, I was able to afford my beautiful gown.

After I tried on gowns, Mom Spring Roll and sister Spring Roll explored their options. They too were a little disappointed at first.

But not only did I find my gown, Mom and Sister Spring Roll found their gowns as well. Mom Spring Roll found a beautiful satin A-line gown in terracotta. She will have the gown shortened to tea-length and wear matching shoes.

Sister Spring Roll, who is my MOH, found a satin ball gown with a halter top. She and my bridesmaid, Mr. Spring Roll’s sister, will be wearing the gown in Watermelon.

Were you lucky enough to find all the bridal party attire in one place?

that is very similar to the gown I almost bought way. back. when. except it was a couple of years ago, so the style was more a-line and didn’t have the sweetheart neckline.

YOUR dress is gorgeous…I only wish that had been the style a couple of years ago.

Congrats on finding ‘the one’

I never would have thought I would buy a dress with lace. And once I tried my dress on, I knew I had to have it, lace and all. My mom was very surprised at my choice but could tell by the look on my face it was the one. The heart wants whatthe heart wants but no one knows why.

I, too, surprisingly bought an a-line sweetheart lace gown this weekend. I was looking for a v-neck taffeta!

I’m wearing Demetrios 1356. :) I didn’t want to take it off!

I tried that one on! It was my second choice. And I agree…it was really heavy with all the beading, but still manageable.
You look gorgeous!

Awesome, I’m rocking a heavily beaded ivory gown too, but mine is a halter. I went in thinking that I wanted a strapless, but my mom encouraged me to try all kinds of things, even things I wouldn’t think I liked. That’s how I ended up with my heart set on a beautiful halter, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

i love that gown–i also tried it on and loved it, despite how heavy it was, and the fact i didn’t want beads or lace (ha!). it suits you so well. i ended up with a very similar one.

@Gery: The dress is considered to be a mermaid style with a scalloped sweetheart neckline and chapel train

@lulubelle: The gown is by Monique Luo :)

Wow — that dress looks like it was made for you! I tried on that Monique Luo (it was not sexy and fab on me, like on you!), and it was heavy — but it’s only a few hours and you look stunning.

I know how it is to try those dresses on without a lot of help - can be good or bad! Your dress is very pretty and I’m glad you didn’t have to go through a lot of drama to find it!

I found my wedding dress at Pearls Place in Metairie (just outside of New Orleans) and I LOVED LOVED LOVED my consultant so much I took my BM back there to find their dresses. In case anyone out there is in NOLA and trying to figure out where to go, I highly recommend Pearls. My consultant was Lisa (she’s off on Tuesdays) and I just can’t say enough good things about her.
