Are you one of those girls that can’t stand floral inspired perfume? Would you prefer to smell like old books from a library or burning leaves? How about smelling like an experience, for example, a day at the beach in 1966? If unusual scents are up your alley, check out I Hate Perfume, an unconventional perfume shop that I stumbled upon during a trip to Brooklyn a few summers ago. I don’t usually wear perfume, and I loved the peculiar, yet romantic scents in this shop.

I think that these would make wonderful, unique bridesmaid gifts. A perfume reminiscent of the season that your wedding is held would be a nice way that the bride or wedding party could bring back the memories in the years to come. I would tell you I am thinking of this myself, but I wouldn’t want to give anything away to my lady friends who may be reading.
I love how Chris (the artist behind CB I Hate Perfume) explains all of the scents.
At the Beach 1966 smells of “wet sand, seashell, driftwood, and a hint of boardwalk”, and makes you smell “as if you’ve been swimming all day in the ocean”.

Just reading about them makes me imagine the experience and the smell. FIT had classes in fragrance design, and I would have loved to have taken one if I wasn’t buried with my fashion design classes.
It really is incredible how much a scent can bring a certain day, season or era back to life within seconds. Sometimes I’ll catch a whiff of a scented lotion that I wore in high school, and all of a sudden I’m sixteen, going to the thrift store, learning to play guitar and driving around in my first car.
He does do custom work—how awesome would it be to give him a list of a few of the flowers from your bouquet and other scents related to your wedding (cake flavor? Who knows.) and have a perfume to bring back the memories? Ok, I have to admit I didn’t get much sleep, and am feeling pretty silly. I suppose you could always choose a perfume that you don’t wear regularly, but I wouldn’t mind smelling like cake.
Last night while I was trying to fall asleep, I thought of some unusual wedding-themed names for perfume. I came up with a few—Champagne and Smooshed Cake, Melted Wax and Table Mints, etc. Although this was amusing, it did not help me sleep.
Are you planning on wearing a special scent on your wedding day? Is there a certain perfume that takes you back to another time?
