Thinking Twice

October 3rd, 2008 @ 4:54 pm by Mrs. Meatball

This dress is so pretty that it makes me rethink what I thought I wanted for my ’maids.

It’s kind of obnoxiously lovely.

Check it out in ivory or whatever this color is called:

Le sigh. It’s sweet, no?

It could even be worn, on the right girl, by a bride. It costs $295, though. I’m trying to keep the bridesmaids’ dresses to under $150, if possible. I wish I could give them as gifts, but I am broke-ass, lest we forget. The jury is still completely out on the ’maid dresses, but I’ll keep you posted…

Anyone else enjoy a unique bridesmaid outfit? Any suggestions?

OOH!! I think I might just HAVE TO HAVE the ivory one — welcome dinner dress, perhaps? Great find, Meatball!

What about the Sydney in navy, which is currently on sale? Also happens to be the dress I wore to me rehearsal dinner! http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/dresses/weddingsparties/PRDOVR~93605/99101446936/93605.jsp

I am competely and 100% obsessed with J. Crew and have been known to spot it on anyone. When I first saw that blue dress, I knew I had to have it…. until I saw the price tag. I just couldn’t justify having that beautiful thing sit in my closet without wearing it every day. Maybe for a rehearsal dinner dress? Le sigh is RIGHT! I think the patterned dress style for ‘maids is so unique!

I too lusted after the JCrew dresses (all of the cotton cady ones) and was about to give up on them until JCrew did there final sale back in August, I got all 7 bridesmaid dresses in the Bright Berry pink color in all different styles (the girls got to pick which style they wanted). After the sale and the Extra30 code at the time they came to $168 each after tax and shipping, the girls are so excited because they think they will wear them again. I would say wait for a sale because it seems like JCrew is always having a great sale every couple of months.

I so agree! I saw this dress before and thought the same thing. If it goes on sale, I may just have to jump on it. Would be a great mix to add in with my navy blue bridesmaid dresses. Thanks for reminding me about its loveliness!

My wedding is a 6 o’clock formal event, so my bridesmaids are wearing floor length dresses. I was in love with the black Sophia long dress from JCrew … but it is like $295 dollars or something crazy like that. All of my bridesmaids are right out of college or in grad school so they definitely don’t have that kind of money to drop on that dress. I ended up stalking eBay and got allll 5 dresses (brand new with tags on it) for an average cost of $93 dollars!
