“What are these?” you are wondering.

I was totally inspired by this picture from Jennifer Skog’s bridal shower to make little umbrellas for our mixed drinks.

Want to make some? Here’s the supplies you’ll need:

  • Thick paper or cardstock
  • Wooden skewers
  • Scissors
  • Circle cutter (optional, but useful)
  • Glue of some sort (all I had was fun foam glue…seems to have worked)
  • Double sided tape or the always-helpful Tombow Mono Adhesive
  • Beads

First I used my circle cutter to cut circles in a 12″x12″ sheet of paper. I could get 12 3″ circles out of one sheet.

Then I cut the circle to the center, put some adhesive (Double sided tape would work. It’s cheaper, but would take longer.) on one side, and slightly overlapped the paper.

I broke a skewer roughly in half (and plan on sanding these down later). If you are using tall glasses, then you may not need to adjust the length. Then I stuck the pointy end through the center of the paper.

I dipped the pointy end in some glue and stuck a bead on the end. And here’s the finished product (although it will look much cooler when it’s not stuck in a water glass with wheat on it).

I made a bunch with different styles of cardstock, so they wouldn’t all be the same. This should also help people remember which drink is theirs on the table once they hit the dance floor!

Are you accenting your cocktails with anything?

I actually have that exact Jennifer Skog photo on my inspiration board! I love the idea of a graphic pop even on drink glasses, so I’m thrilled you’ve given a how-to for these!
