Giving Me Pause

Just when we thought we had our colors all figured out—the gals at Elizabeth Anne Designs have really thrown me for a self-questioning loop with this gorgeous board!

I mean, I could still use this as a base, and have some purple, fuchsia and peacock blue thrown in here and there, right? Hmm….

Yup, that works pretty nicely, right? I’m drawn to this for a few reasons:

1. I was a little nervous that our wedding was starting to resemble a Barnum & Bailey Big Top and that maybe we needed a little color-control/editing.
2. Mr. Meatball’s reaction when I showed him the board above was “Wow, I REALLY like those colors”—possibly one of the stronger reactions to color he’s had during our search.
3. I reacted pretty much the same way when I saw it, too.

So, maybe this just gives us more of a structure. Maybe we just need to focus on these warm tones, and use the other colors as accents. Then, one palette takes center stage, and is made more lovely by the surprising shocks of peacock, fuchsia and purple…

Y’know, more concise cohesion, less confused circus, kinda.

And, while I have you here, can we just talk about this flower?!?

How insane is this? Mother nature sure is spectacular!

Anyway, I need your help, oh hive. What do you think?

Should we throw caution to the wind and use color willy-nilly? Or, should we wade in warmth and use our shocks of color selectively?

I love orange and fuschia, and the peacock adds well too. I’m in love with bright colors, and I think they add an awesome feel to a wedding. If you really love the orange, I would use that for the base color and use the purple and peacock in the details to really make the little things stand out.

I definitely like the colors, and think its a great foundation to add the brighter colors to like you said… EAD has some pretty great ideas!!

That is beautiful! I like that you have a color hierarchy and are only using the fuchsia, purple and peacock in pops. I can’t wait to see this.

I would go with peacock and maybe hot pink accents. Too many and you may come off a little color blind. You want people to notice the details of the day too …not just the colors. It’s kind of like when people notice the makeup and not the girl…in my humble opinion.

I say go for color! This particular orange seems warm, and according to a quick google search, orange has some great meanings behind it. My favorite? According to lore, orange is symbolic of strength and endurance. What more could you want for a wedding?

These colors are so beautiful, they go perfect with your venue.

I love these colors! They are similar to what I would like to do, but w/ more aqua and green and subtle oranges.

P.S. These colors will go really well with your venue!

I think its beautiful. We are doing something similar, but maybe in reverse. Our colors are aqua and deep ocean, but with a tropical flair! So since there aren’t really many flowers that are either of those blues, we are having bright oranges and deeeep pinks for the floral aspect. So, I guess its no surprise that I would say the colors are beautiful, and yall both had a good reaction to them - go with it!

love, if it makes you and your mr. meatball happy, I say go for it!

We’re doing mostly turquoise with red and orange flowers to make everything pop against the green leaves of our winery venue. I’m so excited! We started out with a different color scheme and then changed when I saw turquoise, red and orange put together. If you love it, go for it!

I’m all about using bright colors! I think what you have there looks wonderful together. I too was nervous about our vibrant color choices (navy with pink and orange accents), for fear that people would think we’ve lost it. We are trying to make sure that navy stays our main color and only using pinks and oranges as accents - like our bouquets. I say if you and Mr. MB love it - go for it!

The plant not only has the color fuschia but it is also called a fuchia. You can ususally find it as a hanging plant.

I also like the combination of colors. Touches of the fuchia and peacock blue will stand out nicely but not clash with the warm oranges.

tberry says:

Oops I mispelled that. The plant is pronounced fuschia but spelled fuchsia.
We give to my grandmother for MOthers day most years.

less is more… that inspiration board is amazing! i think if you add too many more colors (peacock idea) your concept is going to get lost. i think sticking to the new inspiration board OR the original one is a better option. but in the end it’s what you want for your day! :)
