Post Wedding - Chop Chop!

October 6th, 2008 @ 4:53 pm by Mrs. Taffy

Many bees have gone for the post wedding chop. Mrs. Toucan, Mrs. Radish, Mrs. Snow Pea… the list goes on and on!

Last night I was explaining the post wedding chop concept to Mr. Taffy, and his take on the idea had me laughing all night! I told him that I am thinking about going for the post wedding chop, and was also explaining that I am considering becoming a two veil bride, one long veil and one short veil. His response:

Why wait until after the wedding day to chop, when you can just get the haircut before the reception?

I thought having a long veil and a short veil in the same day would be dramatic, but Mr. Taffy has taken the idea to a whole new level! Can you imagine having your hair cut in between the ceremony and reception? I suppose you could pull it off if you had enough time between, but it still seems crazy. I will be sticking with the long veil - short veil plan myself! Mr. Taffy will have to wait. :)

Have you ever heard of a bride actually doing the post wedding chop, post ceremony?

LOL. My aunt and uncle used to own a hair salon and so I have them by my side for my wedding to do hair for me and my girls. I’ve actually considered getting a haircut before the reception since I’m changing into a different dress and a sassy short do would look awesome!

Ha! I thought about doing mine during a layover on the way to the honeymoon and I thought that was intense!

@loveatfirstsightlover: If you end up doing it, let me know! I usually have a couple of bad days after a hair cut (even if it is good), so even if I had the time I don’t think I could go for it.

Ha! That’s funny. My fiance said the same thing when I was explaining to him the post wedding chop. Honestly I would seriously contemplate it if I had a hairstylist that I really trust nearby. I usually have short hair anyway but am growing it for the ceremony-a cute short cut would be an awesome transformation with a shorter dress and birdcage veil!

I chopped 12 inches off of mine on the honeymoon, but could never imagine doing it before the reception! I usually hate major haircuts anyway, and I would hate to have that disappointment on my wedding day, but would be interested to hear about a bride did that!

OMG.. my bridesmaid and FSIL is a hairstylist and wanted to do this so bad instead of doing a flower toss or garter toss because both FI and I are cutting and or shaving (his) head right after the wedding.. Trust me, we did give it a thought.

Oh man, what a great idea! If your reception was considerably later than the ceremony you could totally do it. How awesome would that be!?

I was thinking of doing mine between the wedding and honeymoon, but on the day‽ What if you hated it‽

HA! My cousin ACTUALLY did this… after the ceremony.. they had a lovely cocktail hour… and when they called them into the hall for the reception… her hair was about 7 inches shorter!!!

I love the Idea!!

@Guilty Secret: That’s what I thought! I always have to have a couple of days to not hate my hair, even when it looks good!
