Don’t Forget the Kiddies!

October 6th, 2008 @ 12:25 pm by Mrs. Pinot Noir

We wanted to do something a little extra special for the kids at our wedding. There will be three little ones (ages 5 to 7) and they will each play a role in the wedding as the flower girls and the ring bearer.

We decided on goody bags filled with snacks and fun games. I figured this would be multi-functional, as it would be fun for the kids and would also keep them entertained.

I used recycled paper bags and personalized them by adding their names and wedding roles.

Then I filled the bags with games and snacks.

Each gift bag included snack packs, crayons, Play-Doh, stickers, and color-your-own stickers. Lip Smackers were included for the girls, and a Matchbox car for the boy. I also created a fun wedding activity book with pictures and games.

The finished product! These were included in our shipment to California, and the site coordinator will set them at the tables where the kids will be seated.

Will you put together anything special for your little wedding guests?

I absolutely love this idea. I also have two flower girls and one ring bearer (my son) and will probably do something similar as well.

I will definitely be doing this. My two nieces will be our FGs and will probably be the only children at the wedding!

I actually did this for ALL of my little guests, all 18 of them. I’m a teacher and love little kids, so I wanted parents to bring their children to our wedding. However, I wanted something so that the parents wouldn’t have to worry about keeping their kids occupied the entire time. I bought canvas bags from my local Hobby Lobby when they went on sale and bought lots of goodies to fill them with, specializing for each gender and age.

In addition, I also sent each child a postcard a couple of weeks prior to the wedding letting them know that there would be a bag ‘just for them’ at the reception.

I don’t know who was more excited for the wedding to come…. my fiance and I or the little kids waiting for their bags!

I too did kids bags for all of my young guests (10 and under) 15 in all. We got gift bags that matched our wedding colors and then put each childs name on them and had it waiting for them at their seats. It worked out well since our favors were for the adults (family recipe books), 1 per couple so this made sure the kids didnt feel left out.

Each bag had a coloring story book about their wedding adventures (I made them on the copier at work, from various images from Snoopy, Sesame Street, and Disney so they cost me 0 :) ), 4 crayons tied with ribbon, a glow bracelet (which they LOVED), a pinwheel, a little plastic finger puppet, a crazy straw, bubbles, one of those little round plasic games with the metal ball inside, and a kalidascope.

Total each bag cost me about 2 bucks and it was completely worth it. I had several parents come up to me and say thank you for thinking of the kids, they were really impressed that we thought about them.

We will be doing this for all of our young guests. We have 4 ringbearers (some may end up carying a banner or ringing bells or some such) and 4 flower girls ranging in age from 3 to 10. We will also have the children of our bridal party wich will include at least 3 one year olds, 2 eight year olds, as 7 year old and a 4 year old. there may also be other children under 12 at the wedding. We will be providing age appropriate gift bags for all of the kids to keep them occupied and a seperate tent with a babysitter and Disney or Pixar movies for the non infants. We may set up a craft table and there will be airmatresses and port acribs for the younger set so that the parents can party and the kids sleep.

The kids in the bridal party will also recieve a thank you gift at the rehersal dinner.
