Last summer, I made a list of 365 reasons why I love Mr. Fondue, a la Mrs. Hummingbird and Miss Candy Corn. A lot of them are inside jokes and a few are quite personal, so I won’t share them all, but you may see several of them pop up throughout my posts.
Today my focus is on reason #11: “You make funny faces when I take pictures of you.”
Something happens when you point a camera in Mr. Fondue’s direction. Think Chandler from “Friends” (Mr. Fondue is A LOT like Chandler), except not as scary.

If he wasn’t warned a photo was about to be taken, he will typically make this face, which I call “The Glare”.
If you tell him to smile, he will make “The Smirk”. He also automatically seems to make this face when he has a drink in his hand.
And if you tell him to smile bigger? You get “The Goofy”, which is my favorite. This face also naturally occurs around Muppets, Chewbacca, and Kaiju.
There’s also the occasion when you get some weird combination of two or more of his looks.
When I’m in the shot as well, he tends to do “The Smirk” most. I warned our photographer that “The Smirk” may occur so she could look out for it during our engagement and wedding photos.

My fiance does indeed make strange faces when confronted with a camera, but as far as taking odd pictures, I’m usually the funny-face-making culprit (never can seem to look straight at the lens)!
I agree– the Cookie Monster photo is adorable/hilarious! And I also think Mr. J is just like Chandler 
When I first saw the picture of Monica & Chandler I thought it was you & your fiance! LOL Those are hilarious faces…. let’s hope for “the smirk” in your wedding pictures versus “the goofy” LOL!!

Ha Ha. Mr. Cookie totally makes funny faces when I take pictures of him! We got some great wedding photos as a result!

My fiance is ok in pictures.. but tends to be a little nervous and very PDA nervous…but only for photos!? Oy - we are having engagement photos taken soon…. we’ll see!
My husband has to do this under his breath laugh thing to have a normal looking smile. The only problem is that it totally cracks me up. So we end up with a great picture of him but I’m throwing my head back in full on laugh. Thankfully our photographer puts us both at ease, and he is fast on the trigger so he gets shots in before my tiny giggle becomes a fit of laughter.
Mr. Fondue and my sweet fiance make the same faces. To a T.
Oddly enough, we also are told we look like we could be brother and sister.

Hilarious! My fiance makes some similar looks in photos, but I don’t think I could categorize them this well. His fake smile is ridiculous. This is hilarious…I love how predictable his faces are. Too cute.
too funny. i love that you have so much documentation to back up your theory — i’m all about images to illustrate a point. if he isn’t paying attention to the camera i’m sure he’ll act naturally. it’s the posed portraits or family photos i’d be thinking about….hmmm, what can you do to relax him and take his focus off the camera. i think engagement photos will be a good “dry run” for you two. GL!

I don’t have a picture smile, but I suffer from what I call “Camera Head”. It seems that if someone is taking my picture, I automatically tip my head to one side or the other. I don’t know why I do it, but I wasn’t aware of it until quite recently, looking through old photo albums. It’s such a natural reflex that I’m worried 90% of my wedding pictures will feature the Camera Head pose.

wow, that last photo could be Mr. ST, t-shirt and cig behind the ear included. He has some standard poses, one of which is his Blue Steel. Hilarious, but sometimes I just want a normal picture of the two of us, ya know?!
OMG, this post got me cracking up…especially the picture of Chandler! My husband makes weird faces in photos sometimes. We just got a glimpse at our pro wedding photos last night and wouldn’t you know he did the face in LOTS of them! Don’t know what to do with him, but we call his look “The Elvis.” I was worried in our church when one of his cousins was like, “Dude, what are you doing with your mouth?”
