About Mrs. Lemonade

Just a Taste

October 7th, 2008 @ 12:57 pm by Mrs. Lemonade

This weekend, Mr. Lemonade and I headed south to San Antonio for the tasting at our venue. I was really excited about this because not only were we going to taste tons of yummy food, but we were also meeting with both the site coordinator and our DOC to work out logistics, setup, etc.

We met up with Becky and Debbie (the event director at the club) for our tasting and to go over logistics for W day.

First up was the tasting. I grew up at Oak Hills and Mr. Lemonade has attended many celebrations at the club with me, thus, in an effort to save some time and calories, we only requested to taste items we hadn’t had before. We tried three hors d’oeuvres and three main dishes. For the hors d’oeuvres we sampled beef gyros, an assortment of stuffed mushrooms, and mini beef wellingtons. Can I just say that the wellingtons were little clouds of awesomeness?!

Seriously, we had both coordinators giggling as we inhaled the little guys.

The mushrooms were pretty good too–Mr. Lemonade was especially taken with the sausage ones.

The gyros?

Let’s just say they weren’t quite what we were expecting… :(

Moving on to the main dishes, we made sure to cover all our bases with chicken marsala, salmon in a champagne-dill sauce, and beef with brandy peppercorn sauce.

I’m really glad we had the tasting, as it shattered some of my preconceived notions. Going in to the tasting, I was convinced we didn’t want chicken, as to me it’s kinda boring. Well, guess what will be on our menu?! That’s right, Oak Hills’ AWESOME chicken marsala, along with a carver to carve beef tenderloin all night long. The salmon didn’t make the cut, and I’m surprisingly okay with that.

Once we finalized menu decisions we moved on to our grand tour. Can I just tell you that this was what I was most excited about—getting to finally see where it will all take place?! I’m such a visual person, and being able to walk where our aisle will be and dance around where our dance floor (black and white checkered, natch!) will be did wonders to soothe my already fraying nerves.

Next up, a tour of Oak Hills and plotting our course!

Did you end up serving a dish you thought you’d never want to serve at your wedding? What was it?

we are going with stuffed chicken and shrimp encrusted salmon. every time i get an RSVP with chicken i think “oh, chicken? the salmon is sooooo good.” Like it’s not okay for anyone to like chicken more than fish :)
