6 years ago today, I went on my first date with Mr. Meatball. It was a drizzly, cold early autumn day in Milwaukee. He took me pottery painting, where we made a sushi plate with our faces on it along with a piece of avocado sushi, and painted a heart on the back between our initials.

1 year ago today, Mr. Meatball slipped a diamond ring upon my finger on the shore of the Sea of Cortez under a blanket of stars, and asked me to be his forever.

You brighten every moment of my life. Your love shines upon me and keeps me warm even in the darkest hours. This past year has been full of joy and challenges alike, but braving this world with you by my side fills me with strength, courage and happiness. You are my solace in times of struggle, my strength when I falter, my champion of every day. You love fully, freely, and without reservation. You inspire me to grow, evolve and push my limits, and you remind me of the goodness in the world with the innocence of your heart.

6 reasons I love you, one for each year of happiness you’ve given me:
1. You always see the good in people, and teach me to see it too.
2. You will stop at nothing to make me laugh when I am down.
3. You appreciate me for who I am today, who I was 6 years ago, and who I’ll be 60 years from now, without exception.
4. There’s no one I have more fun with. From the most mundane tasks to the most exciting adventures… you make it better.
5. You take amazing care of me. You’re amazing with Paco, and will be a truly wonderful parent to a real child one day.
6. You are my home. No matter where life may take me, I’m always home as long as I have you. There’s nowhere I feel more safe, more loved, more me.
