I'm from Chicago, he's from NYC, and we both miss public transit and great pizza. We have an adorable muppet dog called Paco. I'm part hippie with a healthy dash of hip hop superstar, have excessive empathy for animals, and have not one, but two bionic eyes (long story). We're broke and it ain't no joke. About Mrs. Meatball

Guest-ertainment!

October 7th, 2008 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Meatball

When we started planning, our number one goal (aside from the actual getting married part) was to ensure our guests would come away saying “what a great time!” If we are going to spend this much money on a party, it had better be fan-freaking-tabulously fun, right? So, we’re trying to integrate lots of little activities or treats to keep our guests entertained and excited. I want to keep a few of these things under wraps to maintain an element of surprise, but I’m so excited about this one, I just had to share the news!

We *heart* photo booths. If we had all the money, we’d have one as a permanent fixture in the house, just for fun. And we’d probably jump in there once or twice a day to take some really silly, cute, and sweet photos, peppered by the occasionally obscene. Cuz that’s how we roll, yo. So, immediately we knew that a photo booth was a top priority for our reception. Lots of our friends are actors and/or hams, so mayhem is sure to ensue! :)

It took some real time and scouring online to find a company that fit our criteria (old school style booth, CD-ROM of all the pictures included, fast printing, and a plasma TV slide show of photos as they’re taken), along with being a pleasure to work with. Then along came the great team at Classic Photobooth, and we were sold!

(retro happiness in a box!)

They offer both the classic style and digital photo booth options, as well as arcade game rental, casino tables, and even temporary tattoo and henna artists (go figure). Their customer service is awesome—their responses are very fast, informative, and appreciative. Classic Photobooth services the following states: New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and California (San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco). I really feel confident in our selection, and would definitely recommend contacting them if you’re in the market for fun!

I can’t wait to see all the fun pictures that our guests take, and I hope they enjoy themselves. We can use the CD-ROM to upload the pics to Flickr for everyone to see and share, and to also create a photo album keepsake for ourselves.

I’m crafting up a cardstock photo matte with our logo or some cute graphic on it, and magnet tape on the back for people to attach their strips to after they’re printed. That way, they can take them home and put them on their fridges or in their office cubicles. I know I love seeing my friends’ photo strips… they’re always good for a laugh or three!

Have you been to a wedding with a photo booth, or are you planning to have one at your shindig? What other fun treats do you have in store for your guests?

I really wanted a photobooth, but it wasn’t in the budget. Instead I hired a caracaturist. Only $150 for 2 hours! :)

You are gonna have a blast with it! So jealous. Went to a wedding last summer with one and it was the big hit of the reception…besides the newly married couple, of course. Make sure to have a few props there for people to use…like crazy hats. :)

We really want a photobooth, but we aren’t sure if we can afford it. :(

Also, the vendor that we were thinking about using, shutterbooth, was unresponsive almost all summer, and when we did get the samples they were really poor quality. I think the only way that Mr. Taffy will be ok with having one is if we can find a non-digital version, but then you can only have one copy, and those seem to cost even more! We are also thinking about having our photographer do some shots in a separate room. Oh the drama! :)

We wanted a photobooth and even though it was out of budget, contacted the only company in town that rented them out. They were booked. After a eureka! moment, we thought to ask our wedding photogs and they were ecstatic to set one up for us.

we had a red cheese photo booth and I am do happy that we did. It’s expensive, but worth it if you can put it in your budget. It was a huge hit and some of my favorite pictures of the day are from the photobooth. Have fun!

We did kind of a fake photobooth set up at our wedding last weekend and it was a huge hit! I highly suggest props. It was great to see photos of our family in funny hats or boas! And everyone raved about it!

We had Rockstar Photobooth Company (www.rockstarphotobooth.com) at our wedding reception and it was a huge hit. There was a line all night to the booth. I was very impressed with how good the pictures turned out and the photo gallery they provided was awesome.

[...] seed packet favors, or seeded paper favors, but the packets are cuter, no? Since we lined up the photo booth, we’re not sure we need extra favors… but we’ll see how the budget looks as we get [...]

I don’t know what Miss Taffy is talking about - ShutterBooth is great! They were at a friend’s wedding at Blossom Heath this past weekend. We thought the photo quality was phenominal! The attendants also put together a scrapbook on site - I couldn’t believe how great it looked and we even got to write messages. I actually just called them to get pricing for my wedding in August and they couldn’t have been any nicer and helpful. We will definetely be booking them.

Our photobooth from Classic kept over-heating but the technician worked it out so that they would stay longer than the contracted length of time to make up for all the down time. If we could have afforded it, 2 photobooths would have been the best!

Sophie is an employee/owner of ShutterBooth. This company posts all over the internet, posing as brides to promote their photo booth company. Maybe this is because the real brides, like Miss Taffy, have had an experience with ShutterBooth that was not good.
