Vermont Wedding, Part 2: The Details!

October 7th, 2008 @ 5:50 pm by Miss Champagne

Details, details…you’ve seen the wedding of my friends Julie and Brian, but the details were pretty great! I’ll start from the beginning.

The programs were pink and green, and tied with a raffia ribbon in a bow…

As I mentioned before, the ceremony was surrounded with beachwood. At the head of the aisle, the couple added a personal touch with their names in the wood.

Walking to the reception, I ran into another wedding, and being the stalker I am I took a picture… sorry, pretty bride! I had to!

This was probably one of my favorite details of the reception. Instead of a traditional guest book, this star was placed next to the receiving table with markers for personal messages from the guests. It was very unique, and it’s a guestbook they can display for years to come.

And of course the cake!

Shells, sand, and colored sea rocks were used around the votives to add to the beach-y theme.

The couple also added matchbooks with their name and wedding date on them for guests to take home.

The centerpieces were complemented by fresh lemons and limes. I thought it was such a nice touch and added a lot of color to the reception.

To keep the beachwood theme, the wood was added around flower arrangements throughout the reception.

To add some color to the tent over the dance floor, Julie added these paper flowers around the ceiling. It was very festive!

As many brides encourage dancing during the reception, it’s nice to offer slippers or flip flops for guests. These were around the reception, and guests were free to take them home! I *believe* I wore these while dancing, and I’m sure they were very comfy. :)

A perfect day for a wonderful friend!

Anyone else incorporate lemons, limes, or fruit into your centerpieces?!

We haven’t… yet. But we will next May!

I’m using trifle dishes filled with lemons and limes

Ok, I’m very curious. That guestbook table picture … are the lights in the vases from a Christmas light strand that was put in the vases? That looks so cool!

@Jenny: I loved that too! I’ll ask her and let you know!

My cousin used big heaping bowls of citrus fruits (lemons, limes, oranges, key limes, kumquats) with small white flowers (orange blossoms and stephanotis) tucked in randomly. It turned out really great and was a great addition since we were in citrus country (Florida.)

To cut costs on fresh flowers, I decided to use green apples in clear glass vases as part of our centerpieces. Since we’re using long tables, I’ll be alternating the apple vases with tall black candelabra with votives interspersed between. I’ll also use apples as place card holders :)

@wintersprincess: That sounds like it’s going to be beautiful! I always wanted to have long tables, but it just won’t work at our venue. Where did you get your black candelabras?!

I think using something else besides flowers is such a good idea for centerpeices. I am getting married November 15th, and it is going to be a VERY fall themed wedding! My wedding is in Virginia, so it will be a little chilly out, but my parents backyard is on over an acre of land and the area where the ceremony will take place is under a huge tree that will be all gorgeous orange, yellow, and brown leaves. I own my own flower boutique with my mother and sister so we are doing all of the flower arrangments. For my bouquet I will be having red, orange, and yellow roses mixed with silk fall leaves. My maids are carrying bouquets of silk dried leaves, mini sunflowers, and dark red roses to compliment their chocolate full length gowns from Watters. It is VERY different, but that it what I wanted. Our centerpieces are my own project. I am going to carve out 20 meduim-sized pumpkins and use them as “vases” Inside them will be again the silk dried leaves, red roses, and orange marigolds. Every table will also have a mini pumpkin on each plate, and red apples will be surrounding our cake.
Sorry I went on a rant, but YES there are so many other ways to incorporate materials other than just flowers
