Tastes Like Chicken!

October 8th, 2008 @ 4:39 pm by Ms Fondue

We had our tasting at Ravenwood a couple weeks ago. We met with Chef Stan, who was incredibly nice. We had picked out a lot of items on their menu that we’d like to try, but as most of it required ordering stuff in bulk, we only got to try a few of them. But they were all delicious!

Mr. Fondue likes to pretend that I’m not taking pictures.

And now for some food porn…

The first thing we tried was the Parmesan chicken, one of my favorite dishes and my specialty to cook at home. The first thing Mr. Fondue said was, “I think this is better than yours!” Way to suck up, man.

Next up was chicken piccata, which we learned was a chicken dish with capers, lemon, and white wine. It was entirely scrumptious.

Then we had grilled chicken with two different sauces. On the left, we have a lemon sauce, and, on the right, a mushroom sauce. Both were delectable. Mr. Fondue wasn’t as fond of the one in the lemon sauce, but I think he just didn’t soak it up enough.

We originally didn’t have fettuccini on our list, but since the chef couldn’t do several of our choices and he noticed we liked Italian, he cooked us up a couple dishes of it: fettuccini primavera on the left and fettuccini alfredo on the right. Out of these, the alfredo was my favorite, because I’m really not that fond of veggies.

But the chicken dishes really stuck out the most. I was in love with all them. Mr. Fondue slightly preferred the piccata over the others, so that is what we chose for our chicken. We couldn’t taste any of the beef options, but we are leaning towards the London broil.

Unfortunately, we ran out of time during our meeting, so we will be returning in a couple weeks to go over some of the logistics and to get my next list of questions answered.

How many dishes did you try at your tasting?

Our reception venue held a full-out reception for all of the fall / winter couples! There were 150 people there and we got to try everything - it was great because we could see how things would taste when made and stored in bulk - just like they would be for weddings.
:) becky
p.s. we went with cranberry stuffed pork - delish!

Yum! All of the dishes look really great. I will be serving my guests chicken parmesan, as well as a few other selections.

None! We’re planning long distance and our caterer needed a contract before we could visit, and required a tasting before the contract, so - my mom went for us. : )
