I Miss My Dog

One bad thing about being on vacation for 2+ weeks (What? There’s a CON?!), is that you have to be away from loved ones for 2+ weeks. I don’t know about you, but I am SUCH a family person that everything I see, or do, or eat on vacation makes me think, “oh, so-and-so would LOVE this!” This has happened more times than we can count on our honeymoon—but mostly about our dog, Harvey, who is staying behind in BC with our parents (grand-dog, anyone?).

Mr. Shortcake and my conversation is peppered with “imagine if Harvey was here right now…” and has ranged from the mundane (”Harvey would LOVE this salad!”) to the rather bizarre (“Harvey should go snorkeling with Snorkel Bob’s dog!“). I think we have been drinking too much pool side! :P

Does anybody else get the away-from-home blues?

The last 2 times we went to Mexico, we were like, “I wonder what Stella’s doing right now,” and “Oh, Stella would love this bed.”

I think there was even a pantomime of her digging into the comforter (embarassing — i was a bit tipsy).

Yes! I am the same way with my pug. I start to miss him and think of him with his little furry toys he sits with them in his mouth just like your little Harvey. He looks like a little sweetie pie!

We only went away for 4 days on a minimoon and I missed my dog terribly. Luckily, her daycare and boarding place has webcams 24/7 so I was able to at least make sure she was still having fun.

With the economic downturn, one up-side is that we’ll probably stay in the US for our honeymoon, and we get to take the pooch!

Haha, I am totally the same way with my dog. Thankfully, though, she is a very spoiled grand-dog, so she’ll have lots of fun with her grandparents while we’re on our honeymoon. I think we’ll be much more upset than she is about the time apart!

This made me laugh because…..we will be going to Hawaii for 10 days and while we are soooo looking forward to it, we will be leaving behind our two yorkies, Biscuit and Willow, with my parents. We are going to be missing them the whole time, we already are dreading that part. But, if it wasn’t for them, we may never want to come back!

Justin and I are the SAME way about our two Havanese babies, Ruby and Eve. We were away from them for three weeks recently and missed them SO much. Thankfully, grandma (my mom) was taking care of them and would email us updates regularly. My sister was also around and took photos to send to us. That made it better just to sort of be close to them still.
