Brown Paper Packages Tied Up with String

October 15th, 2008 @ 9:32 am by Mrs. Blush

I wanted to do something special for my girls… my seven girls… hopefully, my seven bridesmaids!

It was an idea from long ago… the TEAM JOLIE/TEAM ANISTON shirts. Remember those? After the first series came TEAM JESSICA/TEAM NICK, TEAM LC/TEAM HEIDI, and so on. Then, a slew of wedding parties picked up the fad, and I loved it!  I know, it’s so 2006, but I still wanted to make my bridesmaids TEAM SONG shirts!

Even before the whole shirt idea, I knew I wanted to write to all of my hopeful BM’s. I wanted to give them something from my heart, to express how much it would mean to me if they were to be BMs in our wedding. SO, I brainstormed what I could do, and came up with the following:

z143738

paper from Kate’s Paperie (I love it there!)

z14373801
pricey, but so worth it

First, I made canvases for all of my BMs. I went to Utrecht Art Supply in Union Square and bought seven 12″x12″ canvases.

z14373802
Then, I worked on each one, stamp embossing… stamping… drawing… painting…

z14373803
the final six (minus the maid of honor card)

Then, I moved on to making the “TEAM SONG” shirts!

z14373804

The shirts are $7 each if you buy two or more at www.oldnavy.com.  I got a white one for myself!  I might make a “TEAM KIM” shirt (Kim is Mr. Blush’s last name) silly

z14373805

I love Sharpies!  I sketched out TEAM SONG onto the shirts. Originally I stenciled the words, but failed miserably, as the paint bled through. It was a mess.

z14373806
I used acrylic paint for lettering

z14373807
disposable brushes (I think they were $3 per pack of three)

z14373808
trying to paint in between the lines

Yay for iron-on glitter decals! This one was too big for one shirt so I cut it up and divided the bling among the shirts.

z14373809
Anything sparkly makes everything just a bit more fun! kiss2

  z143738010
bling

z143738011
this one’s for my cousin in TX winky02

z143739

z143738012
GO TEAM!

Here’s the packaging:

z143738013

First, I wrapped the canvas in tissue paper, and then wrapped the canvas in a shirt.

z143738014

Then, I wrapped the canvas and shirt in even more tissue paper.

z14373901

z14373902

z143738015

Finally, I wrapped everything in package paper, and secured it with twine.

How did you ask your girls to be bridesmaids?

Man, that is so cool! I actually just popped it out when I’ve been with them. I was planning on doing something really cool, but then when I get around them I’ve gotten so excited that it just slips out of my mouth. Whoops! lol…

Wow! I am in awe of your creativity! I just asked my BMs if they wanted to wear an ugly pink taffeta dress to my wedding. Well, that’s how I asked two of them - the other one, I asked over margaritas at Superior Grill uptown in New Orleans.

Kimberly B: The dress is a stamp I bought on ebay. I just looked up the buyer’s info but they don’t have anything for sale right now. If you want- I can give you their username and maybe you could contact them?
hope this helps!
