About Ms Sweet Tea

Good Luck and Goodbye

October 15th, 2008 @ 11:02 am by Ms Sweet Tea

Hello, hive! I’m sorry for the radio silence the past week, and I hope you don’t think that I’ve forgotten about you. The grad school schedule and general life stuff has caught up with me, and subsequently my wedding planning has been put on the backburner for now. In revisiting my priorities, I’ve had to make some tough decisions about where my personal time (which I have so little of these days!) would best be spent.

I guess that’s all a long-winded way of saying that this is my last post as a Weddingbee blogger, and that it has been an honor writing for you as Miss Sweet Tea.

As all breakups go, would it be any less painful if I said “it’s not you, it’s me”? Because it’s true! The hive has been such a great source of support, inspiration, and community for me, even before I was chosen as a bee.

I remember following Mrs. Lovebug, Mrs. Penguin, and Mrs. Onion’s wedding plans obsessively, and being so excited for their weddings as if they were my real-life friends. After I started blogging as Miss Sweet Tea, I felt so much love from you all, as you cheered me in my wedding planning victories and sympathized with my wedding planning woes. I won’t soon forget how much you’ve helped me through this process, and my wedding and my *life* will be better because of all of you. Thank you all for that.

I know that some of you may be wondering if this has anything to do with the sale of Weddingbee, and the discussions around that we had just two short weeks ago. I guess I would say yes and no. You’ve read my thoughts on the sale in my open letter, and those feelings have not changed. I will admit that I feel, especially before this important election, that I should be doing more community organizing around LGBTQ rights and issues, so that’s what I’ll be spending more time doing instead of blogging. But I don’t want you to think that I’ve given up on Weddingbee entirely—just seeing some of the great posts by bees like Miss Hot Cocoa and Mrs. Cookie this week makes me feel that I’m leaving the hive in good hands. ;)

I hope that some of you pop by my personal wedding planning blog from time to time—I’d love to hear how you’re doing and someday there will be eye candy from our wedding there!

Before I start getting all misty-eyed over here, I think I’ll end this little note with some words of appreciation. Thank you, Mrs. Bee, for giving me the chance to write for the wonderful community you built. Thank you to the other bees and to the readers who have stuck with me this far. And thank you, Mr. Sweet Tea, for loving me enough to be my life partner—without you I wouldn’t have found Weddingbee in the first place! Your love has been the greatest gift of all.

Maraming salamat, hive. It’s been a pleasure.

Sincerely,
Miss Sweet Tea

4 posts on gay marriage rights is too political? 20 days from what is arguably the biggest election in our history? seriously? let’s stick our head in the sand and talk about napkin rings! I understand that this is not a political blog but when the politics relates to the blog (i.e. weddings) how is that not appropriate to discuss/share? Now I am depressed.

I’m gone for three weeks, and this is what I miss? Wowza, looks like I need to do some reading.

But, I was around when you were introduced, so I know I’ll miss your logo around the hive. Best of luck to you, Miss Sweet Tea. And if you get an inkling too, post us a picture after your married.

Awww, so sad! I’ll keep checking in on you.

I don’t think you were too political at all. In this day and age, there’s no such thing.

(Some people are a little too “beeyotchy for this blog,” if you know what I mean.)

I mean, err, get yer barefoot self into the kitchen and bake me a pie!

XOXO

Your presence, integrity, smarts, and passion will be missed. Sigh. Maybe you’ll pull a Lovebug and come back after a hiatus???!!! One can hope . . . .
