I’ve gotten some inquiries into the specifics of my wedding day look so I thought I’d do a post on the entire get-up!
Dress: Amy Kuschel’s Rachel gown. I bought mine at the Amy Kuschel store, and lucky for me, they had a sample that had only been tried on a few times that was in my size! My sash was white, but it is usually available in gold. It retails for about $3,900 but I got mine for a little less than ~$2,000 before tax.
Alterations: Lucy’s Alterations in San Bruno, CA. I highly recommend her! She is so professional and knows exactly what she is doing. I needed the dress shortened and then taken in at the waist and a little bit at the bust, which was no easy task given the lace detail on the bust area. The turnaround time was about 3 weeks, and I thought the price was reasonable given the complex nature of the alterations. Price: ~$300.

Veil: Cathedral length fine embroidered veil (style 11106) from Veilshop. I got mine in the color Champagne, which is the color that most closely matched the white that the silk of my dress came in. The great thing about Veilshop is that you can buy several veils to try on and as long as you return it within 7 days, you will get a full refund. Price: ~$67 before shipping.

Shoes: Desire shoe by Colorrifics at Discount Elegant Bridal (the same shoes that Mrs. Snow Pea wore!) They do run slightly big, so I got mine a half size smaller than my normal size. They were super comfortable the whole day! Price: ~$60

Jewelry: I got my necklace, earrings, and hairpieces from Haute Bride in San Francisco. I searched for a long time for jewelry that had the exact look that would fit the sweet/romantic vibe I was going for, and it took me forever to find the perfect pieces! The great thing about Haute Bride is that everything is made to order so they also let you customize your jewelry.

I bought the earrings as is (style e271), and I customized the necklace to match the earrings but to also have a big crystal drop pendant like that.

And above is a photo of my hairpieces (I think the style is called Karyn), that I wore along with some orchids that our florist provided. The total cost for all of these pieces (necklace, earrings, and hairpieces) was a little bit more than I had budgeted, but hey, I fell in love with them!
Price: ~$300.
Hair and Makeup: I loved loved loved working with Design Visage, which I wrote about previously here.

For the gentlemen: Like many brides out there, we went with Men’s Wearhouse, primarily for the convenience factor. Our wedding party was so spread out throughout the country that it was the easiest way to go. It is too bad that there are not some other options out there though, because we had a LOT of trouble with them. They shipped two of the tuxes to the wrong location TWICE (as in, Mr. D called once to check, found out it was wrong, corrected them, but then they sent it to another location that was wrong). By this time, it is only a few days before our wedding. When Mr. D called them again, he got extremely poor customer service and a manager on the line who said it was not her responsibility and that there was nothing they could do if it didn’t arrive in time (???).
Eventually though, many many phone calls later, the situation got sorted out, and the next day, every groomsman had a tux. It was not easy though and way too much of a close call for anyone about to get married. Thank goodness Mr. D handled all of that - I am sure it would have driven me crazy.

Nonetheless, I do have to say that the guys looked mighty dashing on the day of, no?
Mr. D and all of the groomsmen wore matching two-button tuxes. Mr. D had a vest and tie in platinum and the groomsmen had them in a very pale green. Total cost: ~$120 per groomsmen, with the groom’s tux complimentary.

Rings: Custom made at Blufusion Diamonds in Los Angeles. Our jeweler, Anup, is actually a friend of Mr. D’s from grade school! He did our engagement ring as well as both of our wedding bands, and we couldn’t have been happier with the result. The quality of the diamonds he uses are truly the best, and you can tell the difference in quality from some other jewelers with the naked eye. And the price is pretty awesome too. Our cost for both the rings pictured was ~$1,400. Mr. D won’t tell me how much the engagement ring cost though. ![]()
I think that just about covers it all!
