Champ and I have been together for what seems like ages. He knows me better than anyone, and when it came time to pick out my engagement ring, he knew exactly what I would love. Part of that may be due to my many hints and emailed pictures of rings (really subtle hints). But in all honesty, what he designed far surpassed anything I could have done myself. I love the pear diamond. There’s something about it that feels romantic and elegant. Champ really took the time to design a ring just for me- that’s what makes it so special.
So there’s a lot for the guys to learn before making this huge decision. Champ shared with me some of the basics of the pear shape.
And along the way, I’ve collected some pictures of pear diamonds that were unique. There are so many ways a pear can be set into a band, and because the length to width ratio changes, it really makes the ring unique.
This is a pretty slender pear with a very unique setting.
I love the way this pear is featured; it really brings out the sparkle.
This canary pear is gorgeous!

I like the setting of this ring- very simple and can easily be fit with a wedding band under the center stone.

This is almost the same setting as Katharine Heigl’s ring. It’s very antique looking, and can really accentuate the center stone.

Pears can be difficult to fit with a wedding band, so I’ve often seen wedding bands that were made to complement the engagement ring.

And of course.. Jessica Simpson’s ring was a pear. I love the length to width ratio of her diamond.

A little thicker band with a pretty wide pear. This prong setting is very unique and is only two large prongs.

Another pear bride- Katherine Heigl.

Yellow diamonds are pretty rare, so I can imagine a yellow pear diamond is even more difficult to find.

And for the ultimate pear— I know… it’s GIII-normous (a whopping 38 carats). This was actually part of the Onassis jewelry collection, and was recently auctioned for several million dollars. YIKES!

The other thing I must say about the pear diamond is that it’s tough to know which way to wear it at first. The first few days, I wore it with the tip down. I quickly saw and heard from other women that the pear is worn the other way. Honestly, I still sometimes wear it the “wrong way”. I think it looks pretty that way. Oh well- who’s to say what’s right and wrong about a ring, right?!
My ring worn “incorrectly”- I thought it looked right!
My ring worn the “correct” way.
So my favorite fruit? A pear, of course! What shape was your center stone?
