STD: The Good Kind

October 15th, 2008 @ 3:17 pm by Mrs. Blush

We decided to have postcard save the dates awhile back.  My soon to be sister-in-law told me about a great website they used for thank you postcards - she directed me to overnightprints!

The online information was incredibly thorough (in a good way), their customer service was top notch, AND they turned out better than I had ever hoped for! I created my own design and template via photoshop. Overnightprints also has a free online design center, which I understand is very simple and easy.

So I present to you our STD’s:

BACK

$29.99 for a pack of 100! What a great deal! There is one thing I would have done differently- I chose to have both sides of the STD’s be “glossy” (probably because I love all things shiny). I suggest using the “non-glossy” look for the back. Once you trek over to the post office, the little ink stamp they put on all types of mail gets SMEARED!

Other than that, no complaints! I wish we could send out postcards more often. They’re so fun & cheap!

Oh! and a few more things in those pictures we used-

1) my apt
2) the damask “background” is actually my curtain &
3) 10 sec timer is my best friend

How are you sending your STD’s?

very cute! I really couldn’t tell that you took the pictures yourself…it looks very professional! :) I love the curtain background!

We sent ours out via email - saves money on postage, but it can be a hassle getting everyone’s email address. The great thing about the email was that we were able to make the image a link to our website so it worked out well.

I love Overnightprints! I used them for EVERYTHING, including my actual invitations/rsvp cards/wedding website cards, menu cards, and thank you cards!

So cute! And I wouldn’t have known that they were not professional pictures if you hadn’t said anything either.

These are awesome! I love that you used your timer to take these pics - a girl after my own heart! We (me, the fiance, and my timer) are going to try and get some STD worthy pictures this weekend!

You did a fabulous job. Wish I had read this months ago. We decided to skip out on STD’s to reduce costs. Thanks for sharing!

We used overnight prints for our save the dates –
http://www.promtoaltar.net/2008/08/our-save-the-dates.html
They came out great!

We also ordered postcard photo sharing cards from Overnight prints… ordered 9 days before the wedding, paid extra for guaranteed delivery 2 days before the wedding…. and they arrived 4 days after the wedding.
We got no response to email customer service inquiries.
We finally called, and they quickly refunded our money.

We’re using them again for our thank you notes, but just a word of warning– despite their name, overnight prints is not a good bet for rush orders, even more than a week out.

This is exactly the post I needed. We wanted to do postcards for our STDS ;) too, but couldn’t find a good website that wasn’t super expensive. I love your pictures too! A curtain; how clever and it looks fab!!

I really like your postcards! We did our STDs on postcards from overnight prints too. The color wasn’t quite right on the first batch, and they worked with me to fix it on the reprints. Great customer service.

@Loverlytobehere: Your postcards are so creative and adorable — thanks for sharing.

Hi Miss Blush :)

This may sound so strange, but I went to school with your fiance! We were on the same officer board for KASA and at one point attended the same church. I think we took some classes together too. What a small world! Can you tell him Caroline says hi?? AND cute idea with the STD’s! I was looking into magnets, but I wanted to do something more cost efficient, so I might end up doing postcards too. Take care :)

Caroline-
