“Aloha! Welcome to Hawaii” Bags

October 16th, 2008 @ 4:20 pm by Mrs. Sushi

Or should I say boxes.

This has been done time and time again; Mrs. Lemon, Mrs. Hydrangea, Mrs. Onion, Mrs. Cream Puff, to name a few. If budget wasn’t an issue I’d wow our guests with Lauhala Tote Bags to hold our welcome bag contents.

But budget is an issue, so instead I’ll wow them with the affordable, ever so popular, gable boxes. Now before the wonderful world of weddingbee and the knot, I had never in my life ever heard of a gable box or knew what hell a gable was. I was lucky enough to buy a knottie’s left over gable boxes and paid about $ .76 a box (that includes shipping).

Now for my “wow”. Jon, who also did an illustration for our STD’s, made these ohhh sooo cute “cut out” cartoons of Mr. Sushi and I.

I love being clipart! I threw this illustration over an old postcard I had scanned in (I lowered the opacity of the postcard) and ta da

Well… there was some ribbon added for pizazz.

Close up of the illustration. It’s about 4×5 in size and I printed 4 on 8×10 label sheets.

We are using these as welcome boxes for our Hawaii wedding too - I love your ribbon and art! Mine are left overs from a friend’s wedding - very grateful that she is helping us stay within out (tight) budget!

So cute! We are doing gable boxes, too. I got 100 for $49 at http://www.uline.com. They are the medium-large size. Hope this helps someone! I think the website price is in the $50 range (we get volume pricing) but I still think it’s a great deal :)

How are you going to get these to Hawaii? Do they fold flat? and are you picking up items from Hawaii to go in them?

I love this idea! Brides in Hawaii certainly love their lauhala details at weddings but I love this modern, funky idea much more. Too cute!
