About Mrs. Pineapple

All Wrapped Up

October 17th, 2008 @ 11:02 am by Mrs. Pineapple

Yesterday I spent a couple hours wrapping the handles of the clay flowers Diane made. All of the ribbon I used I got on sale at Michael’s for $1. It was a cheap project, but really not all that easy. If I were to do it again, I would probably just pay Diane to do it for me.

I wrapped my bouquet using a scrap of copper satin. The rest of this satin will be used as a runner of sorts on the cake table.

The bridesmaids’ bouquets, bouts and corsages are wrapped in that wonderful dollar ribbon.

Did you wrap your own bouquets?

Okay, I’m totally in love with your clay flowers. They’ll last forever (or, well, a long time, anyway). Are they top heavy? Do you have to be very careful not to chip them? Can I steal your idea?!? (That last question is a joke, because of COURSE I will steal your idea whether you say yes or not!)

Haha, I’ve already stolen her idea! I was going to wrap them myself, because I’d like to use ribbon of the tartan my FI is getting married in … but maybe I’ll rethink that? How did you do it Pineapple?

@Miss Cheese:
Diane made the flowers for my July wedding also. I can answer your questions. Are they top heavy? NO. I was amazed at how “light as a feather” they are. Do they chip? NO. Trust me, my boquet and my hair flowers were put through a lot on our wedding day and there isnt’t a nick on them. As long as you do not get them wet (remember they are made out of clay) you should be fine.

What’s nice is now, 3 months after our wedding, I have my boquet and my husband’s bout with our wedding picture and it still looks as beautiful today as the day they arrived from Diane.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend going the clay flower route if you can.

I think those look wonderful!

I wrapped my own bouquet- using ribbon off of a gift wrapped Macy’s wedding gift!

I just realized now that I didn’t get a really clear picture of it. I wrapped it with white ribbon, used pearl pins to hold it in place, and used the same pins to secure my Nana’s rosary beads to it.

This is the best picture of I have, and you can’t really see the wrapping because of my hands:

It was pretty easy (since I was making my own bouquet I had practiced a few times in advance), but I wasn’t being a perfectionist about it.

That is absolutely spectacular! Beautiful job with the wrapping, and of course the flowers themselves are so lovely.

I used silk flowers so technically did “my own” ribbon wrapping. But I have the manual dexterity of a 5-year-old, so luckily my SIL/BM, a surgeon, was on hand for the actual execution!

I did this, but you did it much better :) The copper ribbon is gorgeous, such a nice subtle theme you have weaved throughout the wedding.

I love the copper against the blush of the roses — really surprising combo, and so pretty.

@Debi: Thanks! I don’t think we can afford to do a whole bunch of these, but I’d love to have my bouquet and his bout this way. How cool to be able to pass them down to our children!

Mrs. Pineapple — Simply gorgeous, dahling. You did a great job!
