Mrs. Bee here! I’m back from the Engage 08 conference, and I must say that it was truly a fantastic experience! I want to blog all about it, but we recently moved and I can’t find the usb cable for my camera!In the meantime, I was lucky enough to receive 2 copies of Sylvia Weinstock’s new book Sensational Cakes, so I’m giving one away to a Weddingbee reader. (I have a picture from the conference where I’m wearing Sylvia’s signature glasses. It was awesome!

oh, I could totally use inspiration! I have to have a special type of cake (for health reasons), and the baker we can use “doesn’t do wedding cakes”, so we are figuring out something ourselves for decor.

The most life like sugar flowers in the world! As a former chubby kid, the cake is one of my favorite parts of our wedding and I would DIE for a Sylvia Weinstock creation.
I would love this book. Being a complete foodie I love sweets and beautiful food. This combines both.

Her sugar flowers are lifelike and you could almost smell them. Her detail is impeccable. Marie Antoinette may have said “Let them eat cake”, but Sylvia Weinstock could possibly add “But make it look as pretty as it tastes!”

This would be the perfect thing to win! Cake is one of those “make or break” elements of our wedding - I’m obsessed with cake (made my niece’s wedding cake), my fiance is obsessed with cake (although he’s in denial sometimes) and just as importantly, our guests are obsessed with cake - seriously, we ordered a significantly larger cake than suggested because we know they’ll tear it up.
Yum! My gramma just offered to pay for our cake… I’d love to look over this book with her.

I could use this! We’re planning on having a very different cupcake cake. But I don’t want people to realize that they’re cupcakes.
Sylvia did our wedding cake and it was a design my husband created. We interviewed several well known cake designers in NYC and non could create it. But Sylvia did and it was fabulous. People are still talking about the design and that not only did it look good but it tasted wonderful. It is now four months after the wedding and people are still asking do we have any left. I also keep yearning for the cake over and over again. She is also a wonderful person to work with.
