Sharing My Secrets: Our Photobooth

October 17th, 2008 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Peacock

The photobooth was really Mr. Peacock’s idea. I thought it sounded like fun, but I wasn’t sure if we needed it or how it would work. He did the research, found a great company and booked it. He even made a logo for us to add to the bottom of the photobooth strips. What a man, I tell you. Our guests LOVED it, and I have such a crush on our guest book.

The booth had an attendant who monitored the activity and printed the strips. Each group received two strips—one for them, one for our guest book. The attendant made sure that they knew what to do. I bought a Kolo book from Paper Source, along with an extra set of pages and some colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, two rolls of double sided tape and an eraser.

The photobooth was set up on one of the two balconies branching off of the main dining area, which meant gorgeous views of the city while you were waiting for your chance in the booth. It was also quite close to the candy bar. Party time!

We added one of my favorite photos from Erin’s wedding to the cover.

You have to click on that image to really see the adorableness that is Mr. Peacock’s parents. We found these photobooth pictures while compiling the rehearsal dinner slideshow. His mom had written a note on the back with a few details about the photo. Unfortunately, the middle photo has been removed and is now missing, so we only know that it was in the ’50s and that they were going to see a movie. Sigh, so darn cute!

We brought some props, but only a few people used them. They all loved the colored pencils, though! Here are a few of my favorite pages. Click to enlarge and get the full effect.

My bridesmaids made this work of art for me. Don’t ask about the political stuff, lets just say that it was a theme at both the ceremony and the reception!

The top set is of a few of my favorite relatives, including my Grampy. The bottom photo is kind of hilarious, with my cousin Mike and his new wife Jessica.

My cutie parents

I give a thumbs up to the very popular wedding photobooth. The images will give us the giggles for years to come.

Are you considering a photobooth guest book?

I love the photobooth, but Mr. HC is not so psyched. I’ll have to show him your post and try to convince him of the awesomeness of this idea.

Photobooths are my favorite!! I would LOVE to have one, but we’re not 100% yet.

Did you have favors in addition to giving each guest the strip of photos? We’re thinking of getting guests less pricey favors if we add the photobooth.

Miss Peacock- your parents are ADORABLE!!! I love adorable parents :)

We used Photbooth Express, too! They’re amazing. I loved how big the booth was. We fit 10 people in it easily. I also have a crush on my guestbook (kolo as well!).

Everytime I read your posts it makes me miss Chicago. I know you’re not even talking about the city in this post, but I just picture an amazingly fun wedding in the city :) ::sigh::

I haven’t been able to convince my fiance or his mother of this investment and this is the best price I’ve found so far in our area! Thanks for the recommendation. I hope we can work with them!

we fell in love with photobooths, but had already set our budget and there wasn’t enough wiggle to wedge it in. then we were inspired by Mrs. Gingerbread and went the DIY route. we used our own tripod and camera and simply rented a backdrop, camera remote, and pro lighting. the venue provided nice screens to block off a section for teh “booth” and thankfully, we had a super photo-savvy wedding party who set it up. we included props and everyone had a ton of fun with it. the only thing our booth didn’t do was to provide prints of the pictures.

to share the photos, we posted them to our online flickr wedding account, which helped drive people to the site and encouraged a few to upload their pictures. woo hoo!

for anyone on the fence about a booth, they are crazy amounts of fun and help loosen everyone up.

@Miss Blush: We did that and a candy bar, and felt that was favor enough. I’m not really into wedding favors (is that a sin?! haha). I have heard of people doing a photobooth and buying some kind of material to turn it into a book mark- a plastic sleeve, hole punch and ribbon, etc.
@Rachel: He totally does! I know what my husband will look like as an older man- still cute!
@ellekay: We miss you, too. Come back :) And I would be happy to talk about Chicago as much as you would like, because I love it too!
@missm: That was a fabulous idea. If you don’t have the supplies, I bet your photographer would help you take care of it- or you could hire an amateur to do it for you for less than a photobooth.

Hi Mrs. Peacock, I am looking at using Colby Bessera and The Party Faithful for my wedding next year…did you like them? Did they do a good job? Any complaints? Thanks in advance for any help!
By the way, your wedding looks gorgeous…congratulations!

We did a photobooth and it was so amazing! I would recommend it to anyone - I just love looking at all of the pictures in our guestbook!! Guests got to keep a strip as a favor (we also did a candy bar as an additional favor) and we received all of the images on a CD after the wedding. We had a HUGE prop box and our friends and relatives got so creative! So awesome. (for any Milwaukee/Chicago brides out there, I would totally recommend the company we used: http://www.picturethisphotoboothwi.com - we were *thrilled* with the results).

I got married in California and rented a photo booth from California Photo Booth Company. I did a lot of research and their booths were definitely the best I could find. The photo booth was a HUGE hit at my wedding and if you’re looking for the best photo booth rental in California I would definitely check them out. http://www.rentalphotobooths.com
