09.27.08 - Getting Ready

October 20th, 2008 @ 10:58 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

The girls’ (and I mean all of us, me included) plans to get up bright and early for yoga on the day of the wedding were thwarted by a late night upstairs at the Ghostbar at the hotel. One of my bridesmaids got up and went, and then took a run, but the rest of us found sleep to be much more satisfying.

We ordered some room service and lounged around the hotel room until a knock at the door unveiled our videographer, Chris Watson, and, a few minutes later, the hair and makeup ladies from Elan Make-up Studio.

Once Perez Photography, our amazing photographers, showed up, we were all beautified and it was just about time for us to get into our dresses. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

All photos credit to Perez Photography, unless otherwise noted :)

I started the day out in my robe, but that thing got super hot, so I traded it in for the workout clothes I had brought for yoga.

Everyone got so tired of me walking around the room with my veil dragging around, they put it on a hanger and I was forced to carry it around for a long time - and I’m talking at least an hour.

The ladies were the first to get dressed. While they put on their beautiful dresses, I got to sit around and relax a little more - only I just started to get a little nervous about finally putting on my dress.

I love this shot. I just see us looking at it like, “Am I really going to put that thing on?”

If you notice in these next few photos, instead of having a huge grin on my face, I look a little more serious. I was cool as a cucumber all day until it came time to put on my dress. I started to get a little anxious and nervous for the first time that day.

My bridesmaid tying my ribbon happens to be a fashion stylist in L.A. How lucky am I? During all the pre-ceremony shoots she secured, fastened and posed my dress for me. :)

Meanwhile, back in the boys’ room, my brother snuck up and took this photo and the one below of the boys. Even though Mr. H is smiling, he was super nervous. He barely touched his lunch that day and those beer bottles you see them with were actually the empties from the night before. Mr. H couldn’t even drink a beer—that’s when you know he’s nervous. :)

Up next, the first batch of details. I’m a details kind of girl, so we’ll have a few of those posts between the people pics! :)

I love the photo of the veil on the hanger! It’s one of those things that ya don’t think about — um, what to do with that long crazy thing once it’s on the head?! And you look beautiful.

I love these shots! Putting on my dress made me nervous too - I avoided it until about 15 minutes before the walk down the aisle…

Hello to all the wedding bees bloggers out there. Thanks for all the wonderful compliments on my dress. If it wasn’t for Mrs. Hydrangea’s genius idea of letting us pick our own dresses, I would have never found this amazing dress. The dress is a Teri Jon by Rikkie Freeeman. I bought it at Bloomie’s (AKA Bloomingdale’s) a while back. Here is a link on where to buy:

Hey!! Your pictures are gorgeous!! I have a quick question (and maybe you covered this in another post, and I’m just missing it) but I thought you were having someone else do your hair and makeup? I’m just wondering why you made the switch, because I have booked the person who did your 2nd trial, but haven’t had any contact with her as I’m planning my wedding from South Korea and won’t be home until 3 months before the wedding… so, yeah, just wondering!!
