Like I said in my last post, Mr. Cookie and I could have been recluse honeymooners, happily secluded in our fantastic room for the entire week. But there was so much more to Puerto Vallarta then our Jacuzzi…
Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains, all I can say is that Puerto Vallarta is beautiful. I can see why it is a tourist mecca. But beware, because it is a resort town you will get heckled by vendors and tour companies all the time.
First off, we decided to get a feel for Puerto Vallarta by walking along the boardwalk.

Up and down the boardwalk are great displays of public art by local artists. For an art lover like me, I was inspired to convince Mr. Cookie to gaze off into the ocean while sitting on this chair sculpture. Being a good sport, he humored me. Although, his bum got a little burnt from the radiant heat radiating from the bronze chair.
As we strolled a little further down, we saw some local artists creating these beautiful sand sculptures.

Toward the end of the boardwalk, the Rio Cuale empties out into the Pacific Ocean. Since September is the rainiest time of the year, the river was really high. The height of the water made our ATV trek through the jungle the next day a little more fun and scary.
After our walk on the boardwalk, we decide to get lost wandering around downtown Puerto Vallarta.

The next photo was actually taken out toward the Marina, which is about a 45 minute walk from downtown, but I had to show you globalization at its finest: Wally’s World a la Puerto Vallarta.

Next up on our la luna de miel: the Cookies’ ATV mountain trek.
