Pre-Wedding Fun

October 20th, 2008 @ 3:55 pm by Mrs. Champagne

I love love to ski~ I always have. Here’s my dad and I at the Kinder Cup quite a few years ago. Nice pants, huh? I was high fashion back then.

There’s just something about the skiing the back bowls of Vail that’s been relaxing. Unfortunately for me, I really injured my right knee a few years ago skiing with Champ, and after three surgeries it’s just never been the same. Originally, I figured that the morning of our wedding I could hit the slopes with a few of my BMs and my mom, and it would really be a relaxing beginning to a wonderful day. The more I think about it now, the less likely that is to happen. What if I got hurt again?! Would I be rolled in a wheelchair down the aisle by my dad? I don’t think so…

There’s always the option of cross country skiing, but in all honesty I get worn out much easier after cross country. It might be a little too strenuous for the morning of our wedding. Again, I demonstrate my childhood obsession for a pop of pink in every outfit.

So instead of skiing in the back bowls, I’ve been on the hunt for something relaxing to do before the wedding. Perhaps a spa pedicure or a yoga session.

Any suggestions? What will you be doing the morning of your wedding before you get ready?

I recommend a massage the morning of if you have time. And a yummy breakfast.

I really want to use the gym at the hotel where I’ll be staying. The endorphins and final calorie blast will be great, but I’m more all about relaxing it’ll be — my last workout as a single gal!

What about snow shoeing? Mr. Cookie and I snow shoe at Winter Park, so I don’t know about Vail, but we find it incredibly relaxing.

I didn’t have enough time to really do anything before the wedding between my hair appt. in Denver, driving up to Breckenridge, and the wedding. However with the Aspens reaching the height of their fall foliage, the drive-up to Breck was really relaxing.

I completely agree with MrsDavis. If you have time for a massage that same morning, GREAT! If not, definitely taken even 45 minutes to yourself with a great breakfast (although I am sure that you will not eat it all). LOL!!! Every wedding magazine that I have looked at recommends eating a good, balanced breakfast because you will need the energy.

@Mrs. Cookie: hmm, thats a good idea!

A massage sounds good too. Maybe I’ll get a massage as I’m eating breakfast before I snowshoe. :)

You look so cute in your childhood ski outfits! I love it. :)

I agree with the above ladies, go to the spa! It makes me worried just thinking about you skiing the day of!

I had such an amazing massage at the Cascade Resort’s spa — I’m pretty sure the masseuse’s name is Amanda. She was FANTASTIC and I highly recommend her. And the spa waiting room is so cozy and relaxing!

If your location has a restaurant/cafe on the slopes maybe you can grab your girlfriends for a relaxing morning tea? You can still experience the snow and ski without the worry of getting injured-

as someone who regularly gets massages, i would not recommend a massage the day of your wedding. to get the maximum benefit from your massage, get it a few days before. yoga or a quiet walk would be very beneficial.

I got a massage the day before my wedding, and I loved it! I didn’t want to be rushed the day of, and I didn’t want the weird imprint on my face from where you put your face when you’re lying on your stomach!

Anyway, I was totally stressed the day before because DHL had lost my menus, programs, and placecards. So the massage was necessary and amazing. Also, my masseuse gave me a face massage that I thought was silly until I realized how much I had been smiling all week! I felt so much better all around. I highly recommend it.

I definitely wouldn’t recommend skiing- if you are anything like me, all I want to do is cuddle up in sweats and take a big nap after… plus you don’t want to have to worry about wind-burn in your pics…

Have you been to Vail Cascade Resort and Spa?? It is a great spa and has lots of areas where you could hang out with the bridal party.. they have indoor and outdoor hottubs, saunas, and they provide champagne-it doesn’t get much better! On the downside, it is a bit pricey (as are all of the spas in Vail) but it is well worth it!
