Sharing My Secrets: the Bouquets

October 21st, 2008 @ 4:14 pm by Mrs. Peacock

I loved my flowers. Loved, loved, loved my flowers. Viviana at Petal Play Design was definitely able to compensate for peonies being out of season. I am so glad that Dean captured so many gorgeous photos of them. Get ready for lots of photos of my bouquet. Some butthead took it home with them and broke my heart. I can only relieve this pain by staring at these photos. :(

Flowers die, so I shouldn’t be that sad about losing my bouquet. What I am very sad about is losing the little charm and the rosary that were wrapped around it. My Grampy made me the rosary just for that day. The charm (made by Romero Designs- I highly recommend them!) was of my Great Gram Kirby, my Grammy, my mom and me. My Great Gram Kirby and Grammy passed away shortly after this photo was taken. I loved having it attached to me most of the day. They are both now lying in someone’s trash. I’ve spent way too much time crying about that, so back to happier photos!

Seeing my bouquet for the first time while I get un-bustled.

My back-up singers and their bouquets. Think it oh-oh-ver…

The junior bridesmaid bouquet.

Mr. Peacock’s boutonniere.

My brothers and their bouts.

Everyone together now!

More flowers next time!

Man, why do wedding attendees think that its ok to make a grab for bouquets? I had a gorgeous bridesmaid bouquet (that had a gift from the bride attached) swiped from my spot at the head table a few months ago!

Mrs. Peacock, sorry about your bouquet, but your pictures are amazing!

If it was a guest, can you just spread the word that you want the charm back? I mean who wants a picture of you with your Grammy? Why keep that?

i don’t understand why people think it’s okay to walk away with things that’s not theirs! and obviously, if the bride didn’t use it to toss [provided there was a bouquet toss] then she wants it! i do hope that someday your rosary and charm makes it way back to you.

I also had a BM bouquet stolen once w/ an antique hanky attached…I was freaking out, but luckily my cousin (who loaned it to me) said it wasn’t an heirloom or anything.

Seriously who does that?

Granted your flowers are truly lovely and so I can understand something WANTING to take them and have their loveliness all to themselves but actually taking the bride’s flowers?

Craziness.

I’m glad you have so many beautiful pictures of your bouquet :)
I’m so sorry some butthead (great name for that person, by the way) stole it. Some people have not manners or brains.

drunks take em’, that’s who. Stupid drunk girls who 1) don’t know better, and 2) are too embarresed the next day to own up they took em’

I have fake flowers from princess lasertron (www.princesslasertron.blogspot.com) and if they get scooped, someone will get their ass seriously kicked. love alison ..

Your flowers are beautiful!

And I can’t believe somone was so rude as to take your bouquet, especially since it had jewelry attached. PErhaps you can pass it around that you would like to have the jewellry returned annonymously and maybe let the venue know. This way someone can send it to you and doesn’t have to put thier shame out into the open. The person prbably thought they were just flowers and didn’t realize that there was jewelr attached until they got it home.

Oh Peacock! Sorry to hear about the rosary- that really is a bummer!

But as per the usual — your flowers were stunning! And I love the photo on the stairs!

The bouquet is just luscious — it’s exactly the vintagey, slightly wild look I’m going for. I cannot believe that someone swiped your bouquet. Is there any way to get word out to your guests, just to see if anyone saw who took it?

Oh SO Pretty! Could you tell us what flowers were in your bouquet and in the bridesmaid’s bouquets?

Sorry to hear someone was a jerk and took your flowers, it’s bad enough people try to make off with the centerpieces but seriously the bridal bouquet? That’s just wrong!

What a terrible thing to have happened. I don’t blame you for being upset, and as a fellow sentimental gal, I’m sad right along with you.

Your flowers are perfection! Pretty and classy. As everyone has said, it really makes zero sense to me that someone would take your bouquet. What the heck?? I really hope someone comes forth and that your mementos are recovered.

It’s gorgeous! Is there is a way you could send out an email appeal to your guests and/or the venue and see if anyone took it by mistake? If they know how much it meant to you, I’m sure the person would return it if they still had it, even if they felt stupid about it. Maybe they could do it anonymously?

As not to dwell on the bouquet bad luck (terrible! my PURSE was actually just stolen from my wedding, though, so I feel you)…I HAVE to ask who the bridesmaid dresses are by - LOVE them!

Someone took your bouquet?! Awful! But they were GORGEOUS!!!!
What is the name of the flower on your hubbies boutonniere? I love it… it is so cute and I am truly obsessed with flowers….I should know what it’s called. Look at my blog and you will know what I mean by obsessed.

Your bouquet (and all the flowers) was exquisite! Do you know what types of flowers were used? I love the wildflower look. Very dreamy. I am so sorry that someone took your bouquet. But those pictures are going to bloom forever, and you’ll always be able to enjoy them and remember them in your heart. I loved the sentimental additions to it as well. Truly beautiful.

Thank you all for your support! I’m sure you can imagine how frustrated I am. Just be sure to keep an eye on your bouquet that night! Based on when the bouquet disappeared, I don’t believe that it was a guest. The only people left at that point in the night were close family and my bridal party. They would have known better. I think it was someone from the event or catering staff :(

@cannotwait: My florist actually used a lot of unique flowers, so don’t beat yourself up over flower ignorance! Those are scabiosa.
@alison: I love her stuff! Guard it with your life.
@BrideDIY, @AlliD & @LoveMuse: I don’t know all the flowers in there, but the big ones are fabulous dahlias, the aubergine are scabiosa, the light purple are anemone. There are also garden roses in pale, pale pink and ivory.
@Mrs. Gueller: Thank you! They are Simple Silhouettes in aubergine. I ordered them from Vegas to Venice in Chicago.
@Miss Deviled Egg: Your icon is too cute! Welcome!
@Agnes: Anemone :) I love them, too.
@Kurly: You’re so sweet! Thank you. I don’t think I will write a whole post about it, but keep an eye on the recaps.

I’ve been looking at bouquets for weeks and this is the first mixed-color bouquet the appeals to me. Usually I’m a monochromatic kind of girl. Gorgeous! Sorry someoen stole them.

Oh also, I threw my bouquet (a last minute decision - some friends asked me to) and was a little sad that that meant that the bouquet catcher got to take my bouquet home :(

Dear Mrs. Peacock,

I am new around here, when I stumbled upon your site I thought I had come to the Great Place Where All Advice Is Good Advice. Your blog is so helpful!

I have a question, however. I was curious if you would be willing to share the template for the cootie catcher? I have always adored them!! Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you.

You can also reach me at katherine_atwater@yahoo.com

Sincerely, and with kindness,
Katie

I just started reading Mrs. Peacock’s posts and I am absolutely in love with her color palette. I hope she doesn’t mind but I am adopting it!!! I love the romantic feel, the aubergine ( I orginally wanted to use a plum/aubergine color) and didn’t know how to incorporate some green.. Mrs. Peacock thanks for the inspiration. You had a beautiful wedding!

Hi! I was directed to your blog because I am thinking about getting your Vera dress for my wedding as well. But before I drive a few hours just to try the dress on I was hoping to see a picture of it on a real human being :) I tried to find a good picture without flowers blocking… but I’m running out of luck. Do you have a link (or point me n the direction of a good pic?) Thanks so much.. ur wedding looked beutiful!
