The Inspiration

October 24th, 2008 @ 1:18 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

Question: What’s green, made in 1948, has wheels, and is cushy like a couch when you sit in it?

Answer: The inspiration for our wedding. My Dad’s Kaiser.

The car and Daddy Deviled Egg

My dad purchased this car a few years ago. It came with a near original paint job (the original owner noticed some chipping a couple of years after purchase and had the company repaint it) and my dad had the interior re-upholstered, making a ride in the backseat as comfy as sitting on a couch.

I love how this car looks, and even before I was engaged I thought it would make the perfect wedding day transportation. With its unique shade of green, it would work well for a springtime May wedding. This car instantly became the inspiration for the main color of the wedding and I can’t wait to ride in it on the big day.

With the car in mind, I created this inspiration board to help us visualize:

What is the main inspiration for your wedding colors?

Beautiful! We had a sage green theme for a May Pittsburgh wedding as well, so obviously I think it’s a great idea!

Yay! Someone else doing green. Actually, picture #5 was a big part of my inspiration! We are doing greens and pale turquoise. The bm’s are all wearing different styles of kelly green dresses, because me fiance’ didn’t like the multi-tonal look. Bummer. Love your inspiration!

Your lucky your dad has a nice vintage car like that…ive been looking for something similar in blue…but in Philadelphia, rentals are way too expensive for vintage cars! But i was thinking of renting a nice blue convertable from a car rental place. :) I found beautiful blue hydrangeas that I fell in love with and loved everything blue after that!
