Magic Beds for Guest-y Heads

October 24th, 2008 @ 4:12 pm by Mrs. Meatball

Whenever our family or friends come to visit Los Angeles, we heartily recommend the Magic Castle Hotel in Hollywood. They have the BEST customer service out there - our favorite element of which is the FREE, unlimited snack/beverage/DVD rental service they offer. Normally a diet coke is upwards of $2 at a hotel! Plus, in the summer, they bring popsicles out to the pool every hour - soooo nice. And, it’s affordable! So, when we needed to book a block of rooms for our wedding, naturally this was our first (and only) choice!

The location can’t be beat. It’s one block from the Walk of Fame and Mann’s Chinese Theatre (and Beard Papa, yo), right in the center of Hollywood. There’s a Metro stop right there for the intrepid adventurer who seeks a visit downtown or to North Hollywood but doesn’t want to drive (and really, what out-of-towner does?). It’s only a few blocks from our ceremony, and less than 2 miles from our reception - here’s to proximity!

Especially exciting is that as a guest of the Hotel, you can access the exclusive, members-only Magic Castle Club. Here, some of the greatest magicians and prop comics perform nightly, in different parlors of this spookily awesome old-school castle/house. My favorite attraction there is Irma, the invisible piano player who takes requests!

Hee hee, I love how the ‘Magic’ part of our Magic Carpet Ride theme is being carried through, with the Magic Castle hotel. :) Totally coincidental, I assure you. But fun, right?

With roughly half our invite list being out-of-towners, it was very hard to determine how many rooms of each type we’d need to reserve. Lucky for us, there’s no deposit required, so we just got as many as we *might* need, and can add or take away rooms as we start getting RSVPs. The manager was really patient with all my questions, and now the deal is sealed!

That’s a huge checkmark off our list! Are you in love with your hotel?

What a great place - I had no idea they had a hotel attached!

As a fellow Chicago native-living in LA gal, I love following your wedding plans, especially since my fiance and I live right around the corner from your venue!

I’m in love with popsicles. mmmm!

I haven’t booked our hotel yet, I can watch it right now, falling off the table! There it goes. Better get on that…

Sounds like fun! I’ve never been invited to Magic Castle…but I’d love for my OOT guests to get the experience!! Do you mind divulging the avg room rate or roughly what they charge? Trying to see if it would fit people’s budgets. I tried looking at the website, but for some reason, it wasn’t working…thanks so much!

You’ve got me wanting to stay there for a weekend (an hour away is a good reason for a hotel, right?), it sounds like a great place. I think I may have gone to a birthday party there when I was younger, but maybe not.

wow that seems awesome, i think it is great when guests can make a weekend out of a wedding with other events. we also loved our hotel and like yours they didn’t require any deposits, which was good because only five rooms ended up being booked!

Sounds like such a fun place! I’m usually really in love with the W (I’m a starwood-lover). We just discovered aLoft, which is starwood’s “budget hotel”. If there’s one in LA, you guys should definitely check it out.
