Mrs. Bee here. I met Mrs. Lemon on a trip back home to LA in January 2007. Spotting Mrs. Lemon was easy—there aren’t too many 6 foot tall gals around.
Mrs. Lemon holds the distinction of being one of our all time craftiest bees. Some of my favorite DIY projects of hers include her centerpieces, escort cards, and invitations. But my favorite DIY project has to be this bean bag Mrs. Bee that she made for Mrs. Penguin when she became a bee.
Mrs. Lemon also loved sharing anything that she thought would help the Weddingbee community, whether it was how to create an inspiration board, how to collect non-pro photos on Flickr, or how to use a Gocco (Lemon=gocco master). She is as talented as she is pretty, smart, and sweet! I’m sorry if you’ll find me gushing over our Bees, but they’re truly an amazing group of gals that I have had the privilege of getting to know.
So without further ado, here’s the gal of the hour!

Wow! I really can’t believe it’s been two years since I started sharing my wedding plans here, but I don’t have to look too far for signs that I’m all “grown up” and married. For starters, all of my wedding blogs were written from my tiny little graduate student apartment cave in Los Angeles. And today, I just happen to have the luxury of composing my thoughts while I’m lounging the couch in our beautiful new home in Northern California. That’s right… Mr. Lemon and I didn’t waste any time throwing excitement and chaos into our newlywed lives! We up and left our comfy college city only 3 months after the wedding in favor of a more relaxing pace of life — and we spiced things up by jumping head first into the home buying process. The endless weekends of house hunting of honeymooner winter & spring have now turned into weekend trips to Lowe’s, as we’re trying to swallow as much of the “how to” knowledge we can from Reader’s Digest books and HGTV.
With all of the color swatches, budgeting, and weekend projects, I’m starting to realize that wedding planning is the first experiment in the “planning” process for the rest of your life. And just like a wedding, some things turn out easier to do than you expected, but then other tasks which should be simple turn into crazy emotional ordeals. Just ask Mr. Lemon about picking out our bedroom furniture… oh boy! It just may have topped the emotional turmoil of finding an officiant for our wedding!
The other happenings in life haven’t been too crazy. Two of my lovely bridesmaids have gotten married, and two groomsmen have weddings planned as well, but none have let me take over their wedding plans (yet). I’ve also had a year to practice pronouncing my newly gained name and to hold back the laughter when someone completely butchers it. Oh, and strangely, I’ve completely altered my perspective on my hair. Instead of neurotically wanting to grow my hair as long as possible like I did for the wedding, I keep getting it cut shorter and shorter at each trip to the salon. I’ve also gotten the chance to foster new friendships in my new locale… with old internet friends no less! It’s made all of the adjustments that much easier to handle, and honestly, that much more enjoyable as well!
The one thing that hasn’t changed from my Weddingbee life is my obsession to craft and DIY! You see, all of that hard work on the floor of my apartment earned me a little bit of extra space in our new home, and….DUN DUN DUN… I got my own craft room! Can I just say how amazing it is to walk into a room, sit down for 30 minutes and make something without the need to clean up or put things away immediately? It’s pure ecstasy I tell you, it really really is!
So with those big changes out of the way, I’m happy to say that Mr. Lemon and I are really taking the time to enjoy our new life together. Our old routines of reality TV watching and video game playing have expanded to include charity leagues (JLS shout-out!) and new recreational sports, but we’re the same goofy couple that we met back at the cookie shop in 2005. I’m sorry I can’t tell you much about what’s going to happen in the future, as those plans are always changing… but you can choose to follow the adventure on your own through my blog at kimberlymichelle.com. And I’ll promise to be back here when I happen upon any wonderful wedding finds to share!
Bee asked for a recent photo, so I went to my closet and whipped out a new dress and dressed up for you to show off the new hair!

The Lemons were married in Mrs. Lemon’s hometown of Monterey, California. Mrs. Lemon wore Monique Lhuillier and had a gorgeous blue and gold wedding. The flower motif that the Lemons used throughout their wedding paid homage to the Rose Bowl, the place where they got engaged!
