Pittsburgh Nordstrom Open!

October 26th, 2008 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Deviled Egg

It was announced in 2006, and this week it finally came to the ‘Burgh. That’s right Steel City fashionistas, the new 138,000-square-foot Nordstrom store is officially open for business at the Ross Park Mall.

Looks like all of us Western PA brides now have another option in shopping, including seeking out bridal accessories like shoes, purses, lingerie, jewelry and more.

I’ve never been in a Nordstrom store, but honestly, from what I’ve heard about it, I’m probably not part of their target market. Due to my own personal financial situation and an obvious lack of fashion sense, I don’t buy much in the way of high-end clothing and accessories. But hey, even though I’m not privy to all of the hottest name brands, it doesn’t mean that I don’t like to look! And I guess if there was an occasion to splurge, a wedding has got to be high on the list.

Those of you who are Nordstrom-shopping veterans, does the store live up to the hype? Have any budget brides like myself

Every time I do a Google search for something I want for my wedding (shoes, a jacket, etc.), Nordstrom returns almost the exact item I’m looking for.

Granted, it would cost me three times as much there as anywhere else, but I do endorse their style! Even if I have no hope of affording it.

I’ve been using their stuff as style inspiration for the stuff I can actually afford…

I love Nordstrom. If you are concerned about their prices, either wait for the half yearly sale OR shop in their juniors department. I get amazing clothes from the juniors department.

I second the juniors department, called BP. And the Juniors Shoes Department is AMAZING. Same great service as in the high shoes but a quarter of the price. The Half Yearly Sales are great as well as the Juniors accessories (sunglasses, scarves, jewelry) and the clearance racks (I just got a $80 dress for $15!)

I used to work at Nordstrom, so I’m biased. For bargains, definitely shop their sales. The biggest one of the year is the Anniversary sale, which happens usually in August, where brand-spanking-new fall stuff is on sale for two weeks, and then the prices go UP. The BP department is good, and check out clearance items in any department.

The other thing is, you can hope for a Nordstrom Rack following your new Nordstrom store. That store has GRRREAT deals, too, but you have to scour it often.

Shoes are unrivaled and customer service is unrivaled. You’ll find very very good-quality items that last a long time at Nordstrom.

I love Nordstrom. My best friend chose our bridesmaid dresses from there and it was simple and cost each of us $80 + $5 shipping = $85 for a simple a-line lavender bridesmaid dress.

They also have a ton of dresses which I absolutely love. Their return policy is so easy and their descriptions are usually spot on. Their online selection of dresses is more than in the store, but I love going to Nordstrom too. Excellent customer service.

I LOVE the shoe department at Nordstroms. I have big feet - size 11 or 12 depending on the brand and Nordstroms is one of the only department stores that regularly carries a good selection of stylish shoes in my size…versus the other department stores which only carry the comfort (read: ugly) styles in larger sizes. And the customer service is hard to beat.

I am so excited to about the Pittsburgh Nordstrom! I wanted to check out the grand opening on Friday, but the thought of fighting off throngs of wealthy women made me shudder. I am looking forward to their wedding shoe selection, and my mom is hoping to find a classy, not-typical mother-of-the-bride dress!
