About Ms. Dahlia

A Little Time for Us

October 27th, 2008 @ 6:09 pm by Ms. Dahlia

Early in the wedding planning, we knew that we wanted to take some time in between the ceremony and the reception just for us. I don’t generally like being the center of attention, and it was important for both of us to get a bit of a break and have a little time just for us.

First stop was a tea house on Murray Hill that we would visit when we were just friends.

And some chess—since that was how we initially got together. No, that’s not a beer—I opted for iced tea.

Shortly after we arrived, my best friend and maid of honor appeared. She’d been planning on going to get mocha at our favorite coffee shop, but at the last minute decided that tea was what she really wanted. I hadn’t mentioned anything about our plans to hit up Algebra—but there we were, and there she was.

Competition was fierce…

… and ended in a stalemate.

After the game, we ended up with about 45 minutes before the reception, so we headed to a Cleveland landmark—the West Side Market.

Before going into the market, Mr. Dahlia bustled my dress.

Produce

Meat—not just any meat, mind you, but Hungarian meat.

People clapped and cheered when we walked by.

View from the balcony…

… that was inhabited by a homeless looking President of the Association for Magyar Awareness. He was emphatically NOT Hungarian.

That is the cutest thing ever. I love shots of people in wedding finery in every day places! Such an interesting contrast, and tribute to what it’s all about anyway.

Ms. Dahlia, are you Magyar? My best friend from college is very active with the Cleveland hungarian scouts, etc. and I visited that sausage stand with her family! Makes me think of her!

Such fun photos! I loved taking “time for us” (a nap, a meet-up with our photographer at a coffee shop, and then a bunch of photos) on our wedding day. And Mr T was uncomfortable with everyone’s stares and attention, but I had a great time!!

What a great idea! And I bet it helped you not feel like the day went by in a whirlwind. I’m noting this for us, because I think it’s brilliant.

“…President of the Association for Magyar Awareness. He was emphatically NOT Hungarian…”

hahah this made me laugh - it’s so random! I’m Hungarian, and it just seems weird to me that someone who is NOT Hungarian would head up the Magyar Awareness group!!

As soon as you wrote “Murray Hill” I thought…I know that place…and then I saw your pic of Algerbra and the west side market and I knew- you’re a clevelander! My fiancee and I live in Cincinnati now, but the pics made both of us homesick! Thanks for sharing the cute pics!
