About Mrs. Hot Cocoa

No, I’m Not Going to San Francisco

October 27th, 2008 @ 5:35 pm by Mrs. Hot Cocoa

But I can still wear flowers in my hair, right?

I love the look of a large bloom affixed to a loose chignon or some relaxed curls, so I went to my dealer — ahem, I mean Etsy — for my fix — uh, I mean for some ideas. If you help me choose one, I’ll show you a little somethin’ somethin’, if you know what I mean.

[Mikiye Creations]

Simple, a touch of glam.

hc3.jpg

[Twigs & Honey]

Myra is a superstar in the Etsy world, and deservedly so.

hc4.jpg

[Sweets n Lo]

But how luscious is this aubergine, vintagey number, which goes with my wedding colors?

hc5.jpg

[Samantha Sultana]

She did the hairpieces for Ashley Paige’s show.

Yeah, I watched “Bikini or Bust,” and I’m proud of it.

hc6.jpg

[Oh My Deer]

Chelsea’s pieces are so refined and pretty!

hc7.jpg

[Muscari by Easter Yu]

Quirky, fun, and colorful!

hc8.jpg

[Portobello]

Biggest. Flower. Evah.

What do you guys and gals think? Which says to you: “Sexy, but demure.” “A ballerina by day, but disco queen by night.” “Cashmere sweater on the outside, silk lingerie on the inside — Rawwww.” Ok, forget those. Which goes with this:

Hive, meet my little somethin’ somethin’: her name is Monique, and she’s been hiding in my closet for a little while.

my opinion, is that the one from Mucari will best suit your “look” (ie disco queen in ballerina shoes). it’s quirky, but not as loud as the vintage aubergine (then again, if you’re not wearing much else in the way of accessories, then go with the sweet n lo).

the others are really pretty, gorgeous in fact, but that you picked out two that are also a little bit funky, says to me that that is maybe the style you want at your wedding (or maybe its the style i want at mine) but perhaps you’re not sure if you can rock it. well, i think you can!

The one from Oh My Deer goes perfectly! (I’m silly and opened your dress picture in a new window so I could better compare!) I have to admit, I love that colored piece from Sweets n Lo too.

@Tea & Miss Champagne: I enjoy being a tease. ;-P

@Kaitlin: LOL. If you’re not a psychiatrist, you should go to med school. That’s a pretty good read. I love the idea of the funky ones, particularly the aubergine sweet n lo. But I feel like the more classic ones go a bit better with the dress. I might have to get two and wear one for the rehearsal dinner . . . .

@HistoryBride: I just opened my dress picture and it’s HUGE. I’m so sorry for doing that to you — it’s like bridezilla sized.

My favorite piece with your dress is definitely the Oh My Deer one.

So difficult to choose! They are all so beautiful! I like your idea of one for rehearsal dinner, one for the event. Love what I can see of Monique, by the way…you naughty thing for showing us only a little peek! Pretty pretty pretty! I always like a little color when it comes to hair adornments, so I am partial to the Oh my Deer, Sweets n Low and Twigs and Honey blooms. It’s too hard to narrow it down from there! :)

I luuuuv Portobello (going to check that out as soon as I get my Weddingbee fix….) but I think for your gorge dress/inner disco queen, you should get something with a little sparkle! I vote Oh My Deer or Muscari…and I can’t wait to see more dress!

Huge etsy fan. I am partial of finding a magnolia (silk) with a swarovski center…magnolia is the state flower and tree from where I grew up…I’m not a native Georgian, but a southern belle for sure!

I think the third one, the second myra. I think the pearls would go beautifully with your dress. I agree with everyone who wants more Monique.

I just received my hair flower from Mikiye today and it’s beautiful!! I would very highly recommend her. She was so easy to buy from and it is even prettier in person than online.

I think the Twigs & Honey piece [the bottom one - not the orchards] would go very well with what I can see of the dress. The pearls would echo the beading in the dress. I personally like the Muscari by Easter Yu one, but I think it is too “rustic” for the gown. The last piece listed is way too big.

(a) From what I can see, Monique is gorgeous. When does she come out of hiding?!?
(b) I love the Oh My Deer piece. I’ve been looking at similar pieces. The only thing is I’ve been wondering how you wear a veil with it?

I’m ordering mine from Etsy seller EasterYu (who made the “quirky, fun, and colorful” pic above)! She has been so great to work with! She’ll make it custom to match your dress or wedding colors or both! And she’ll put it on whatever you want…I’m having mine put on a headband. I can’t wait to wear it!

I like ohmydeer. A little sparkle, a little color, and a little flower - the perfect combination to compliment your dress.

Myra is the best hands down. She is a good friend to weddingbee, and has done many pieces for me. I absolutely adore her, she is so nice, will work with your budget and match whatever you need her to. If you can, check her blog or send her a convo, you will see what I mean.

@carly7215: I’m going to wear mine low, right below the ear, and then throw the veil over it.

@scheerintraining: You should definitely show your pieces!! I’d love to see them.
