After that fabulous dinner at Ten 01, we headed back to the hotel and relaxed a bit before leaving for the concert. Of course, this was what our whole Minimoon was planned around, as we are huge Sigur Ros fans. Our awesome DJ, Brandon, had sent us the tour dates long ago during the wedding planning process, so Mr. Pomegranate had managed to snag us some pretty amazing seats.

A quick timed-shot before heading to the concert!
It was perfect Pacific Northwestern weather as we walked to the show, drizzling a bit of rain, but not pouring. We headed inside, stood in line for a local micro brew, and then went to take our seats. The opening band, Parachutes, had already begun to perform and I was blown away by our seats. We were super close!

I’m in love with the Italian Rococo Revival architecture of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
An amazing ceiling, eh?
Parachutes performing.
Mr. Pomegranate had to remind me to enjoy the show a few times (though it was really unnecessary), as I was a little snap happy with my camera. Having never been so close to the stage before, I was blown away by the show and I wanted to remember every second of the concert. So uhm, I took A LOT of pictures.

Lead singer Jón Þór (Jónsi) Birgisson only a few feet away from me!
Jónsi and bassist Georg Hólm enveloped in some pretty blue light.
If you’re a Sigur Ros fan, I highly encourage you to attend one of their shows—it’s truly an experience. Emotional in the least, the intensity builds up in waves with the melodies. Mushy-stuff aside, they provided some sweet visual effects that were pretty incredible, and topped those off with the pièce de résistance: confetti. And when I say confetti, I mean confetti, TWICE.

White confetti pieces floating down during the end of one of the songs—it was peaceful and beautiful, like snow.
Confetti round two came out of nowhere!
I swear, I’m still finding pieces of this colorful confetti in my wallet, bag, jacket, etc.
After the show, we did something I’ve always wanted to do as a kid—wait around for the band after the show and try to meet them. I felt like a teenager standing against the wall in the rain with my beau. We huddled under a single umbrella and chatted up the other fans, while trying to protect the limited-edition poster we were hoping to have the band sign. After a little over an hour in the rain, we started to think we might be a little crazy for thinking we’d be lucky enough to meet them.

Ohhhhhhhh yeeeeeeah. We did it!
We headed back to the hotel and rose just early enough to try to find a solution to the knot that had worked itself deeeeeeep into the middle of my back during the wedding craziness. I had not been able to get rid of it—no amount of Mr. Pomegranate’s incessant rubbing could erase this back-knot-monster. I needed a professional. So we headed to Nirvana Apothecary and Day Spa so I could get a deep tissue massage and Mr. Pom could get a man facial.

Check out the pedicure stations—if only I didn’t still have a fresh bridal French already on my toes.
I wish I could say it worked—it didn’t. I ended up having to see a chiropractor when we returned from the minimoon. All I can say is, if you hold your stress in your back, do lots of yoga during the wedding planning process!
In the NEXT post, The Pom’s Minimoon Part III: Peanut Butter, Oreos, Comedians and a View, we’ll cover some of the more eclectic sights that we visited in PDX.
