Dress Saga Follow-Up

The Dress Saga

{Mr. Cheese, DELETE NOW.}

After I begged for help in deciding which dress to wear, reader lmdh helpfully suggested that I take a picture of myself wearing the bridesmaid’s dress with the pickups from Mori Lee. So, this cheesy gal hopped right up from her comfy spot on the couch (hey, I work blog from home, call it a coffee break) and pulled out the dress.

Brief side note: I KNEW it was going to be too big. I kindly suggested to the bridal shop woman that I’d need a size smaller than she might think because I have a small ribcage and (can’tbelieveI’msayingthisinpublicmuchlessontheInternet) amorphous boobage. If the dress is too big, my breasts will sag to my waist and my dress will try to fall off. She evidently believed that I just wasn’t at peace with my bridal dress size (speaking of which, why not go DOWN in size to make a bride feel better rather than worse, Bridal Marketing Gurus?) and ordered me a bridal size 10. It’s. Too. Big. In the pics that follow, I used clothespins to suck in at least four inches. Argh.

If you look closely, you can totally see my opportunistic pooch chewing on my running shoe (in the right corner). And no, I didn’t comb my hair today. I work from home, remember?

Again, it’s the David’s Bridal dress (reposting the pic from before) or the bridesmaid’s dress.

I hate deciding! And I can’t tell whether I like the pickups dress or whether I just can’t believe my arms look pretty good in those pics (yes, I’m a little vain). Incidentally, whichever dress I don’t wear will be for sale once I decide. And seriously, for heaven’s sake, if you’re on a budget, consider bridesmaid’s dresses. I would never have guessed that the Mori Lee dress cost $140!!

Still the David’s Bridal dress, y’all think? My Cheesy Mama pragmatically suggested that by the time I get the too-big Mori Lee dress altered the two dress sizes I need, I’ll spend another hundred or more bucks. I also like the idea that with the DB dress’s spunkiness (amazing that spell-check thinks that’s a word), I can somehow incorporate feathers or other fabulous frivolity!

The pooch! What about the Eames lounge!?! I’m too distracted by your awesome living room! (we are design geeks and used the Eames stamps on our save the dates)

ok, focus taffy! I like them both! Can you wear both? I’m so not helpful.

I vote for the David’s Bridal dress. You look amazing and it shows that you feel amazing. If you are worried about cleaning in time for the Vegas reception why not check out the time for havign it spot cleaned. Talk to a good dry cleaner in the area about how long it will take. Explain the situation and the rush. If you talk to them ahead of time they maybe able to plan for it and get the dress cleaned in time for the second reception. I know there are same day cleaners for clothing in NYC so there may be something available for you in your area. You want to stick with a business that does there drycleaning on site because they have a lot more control over the timing and wich piece of clothing gets priority. Many places actually take your cloths to another store or factory to do the cleaning.

Oh, I just looked at your timeline agian. Check with your hotel in Las Vegas. You may be able to give them your dress when you arrive and they will have it back to you on Monday morning or afternoon. Vegas never sleeps and it may cost you extra but you will be surprised what types of things the concierge at a good Vegas hotel can get you! If everything works well just remember to gove a generous tip to the concierge.

DB all the way. The other looks far less sophisticated, and also huge.

Go DB, look beautiful, and feel great. And I also love the Eames :)

The DB dress…by far! It has an attitude about it, so you can get away some pretty awesome accessories. DB, hands down.

I still vote for the DB dress too! And Mama Cheese is correct, by the time you are done paying for alterations, you’ll be adding another $150 to the reasonable price tag for the Mori Lee.

While they are both amazing on you, I definitely think the David’s Bridal is so you!

I confirm all the david’s bridal comments. It is such a cool looking dress and you look great in it! At one point I too wanted pickups but then decided to go with another style.
