Birdcage Veil DIY - The Results

October 29th, 2008 @ 12:41 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

I love how birdcage veils give a touch of vintage charm to the overall bridal look. Check out these lovelies:

With these as my inspiration, I attempted to make one myself. I ordered 18″ of Russian veiling from House of Fabric to give it a try. I also picked up some feathers from Jo-Ann’s to make a hairpiece. Veil making is foreign territory for me.

After receiving my Russian veiling material, I couldn’t wait to get started on making my birdcage veil. I found a set of directions online that I loosely followed and came up with a veil that I definitely like.

I shouldn’t have to say this, but if you are marrying me, do not look any further.

So, what do you think? Are you making your own veil?

I love it! It is great!!

I am making a bird cage veil as well. I ordered an aqua-colored russian netting from Judith M Hats and supplies. I am going to construct mine with one comb and make a feathery flowered hair piece to go with it.

I don’t know why I never thought of this for a wedding — hmmm, will have to head down to the fabric store to try it out.

Your DIY looks better than some of the pro ones you posted - fantastic vintage glam look, it suits you!! I do agree with Linda in brining it up an inch or so ( to the end of your nose maybe).

It looks great! I just finished a birdcage veil for my friend yesterday. That netting was tricky!

Hi!

I was introduced to Weddingbee through a fellow blogger, Ms Pineapple, and in fact just covered her wedding last week! If you are looking for a wedding photographer, email me at mwtay2003@yahoo.com for my portfolio and we could discuss it more detail. Thanks!

I got a custom designed birdcage veil for my wedding. The designer recently launched an online store at http://www.5eizen.etsy.com. She has one of a kind designs on that site but she also does custom orders.
