It’s Halloween, so why not have a little fun with some wedding tricks and treats!
OK. All I have for you today is tricks!
Yep, that’s the good old “Help Me” on the bottom of the groom’s shoes. Best executed in a church wedding where kneeling is involved, this trick gets the guests laughing while leaving the couple clueless. Note to self: Check the bottom of Mr. DE’s shoes before the ceremony.

Today Mrs. Cupcake is selling 200+ silver chargers! She purchased them from save-on-crafts.com for $2.10 each, and would like to sell them for $1.75 each, or $350 for the entire lot (a savings of over $250). She’s looking to sell them to a Philly/Delaware/NJ bride, since they are heavy to ship. They were only used once for her September wedding!

… I’m talking about hair, but I suppose you can describe me that way too. 
My hair, if you recall (if you don’t, mouse over my chees-y icon and you’ll see a pic of me) is short. In fact, it’s much shorter than it appears in that picture because it’s a graduated cut so the front is much longer than the back.
I love having short hair. I’m not terribly tall (ahem, *cough* five foot nothing, to be exact) and I have a ton of hair. Seriously. A ton. Every hair stylist I’ve ever been to has remarked on how much hair I have. Lest you be creating voodoo dolls to wish me harm for what probably seems like a good problem to have, let me just say that most of my pre-short-hair pictures make me look like this:
You’ve been asking… I’ve been wishing… we’ve all been waiting… and finally, our first “batch” of Trash the Dress pics were blogged!
I’m really excited that these are the first we’re seeing, because it was with our favorite photographer of the day: the adorably sweet and fun Jordana Taylor Hazel of Hazelnut Photography!
Jordana and her similarly swoonable hubby Chris (aka her bad-ass assistant) found us late in the day, just as the sun was losing its shine. But, Jordana came prepared with some fun flashy toys and fired away! They were up for some really fierce and funky shots, and these are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the great time we all had. I remember lots of giggling, squealing, and bouncing up and down… and that was just Chris and Mr. Meatball. 
We were so impressed by spending that hour with Jordana. I highly recommend her to any couple for their big day, a boudoir session, or their own Trash the Dress shoot. She’s funky and spirited, with a great eye and natural talent. I hope to not only work with her again, but to also play with her as friends very soon!
Enough talk - let’s let these babies speak for themselves!

Create the honeymoon of your dreams.
I was completely surprised that our ceremony was exactly one hour long, maybe even a little less, considering all of the Spanish traditions that we included in our ceremony. We were so on top of things time wise, that I waited in the bridal room for almost two hours before I could see Mr. H again!
Here are some highlights of when we finally said our I dos, after 14 months of planning!

Five years ago today — Friday, October 31, 2003 — I met a boy. I thought this boy was cute, despite his mullet wig, but I had no idea that this boy would soon become the love of my life, my husband, and my family.
It is hard to believe all that has happened in five years. We met, we fell in love, and we dated long-distance for two years. He moved away from his parents for the first time ever to be closer to me, got a new job, and changed his life around to make me happy. We moved in together, we went to about a thousand weddings, and we held each other’s hands at a few sad funerals. We learned how to live with each other, he rightfully named my alter-ego “Cranky McCrankerson,” and I acquired several funny stories about the strange conversations we have when he is half asleep. He gave me a sparkly ring, I put my heart and soul into planning the wedding of our dreams, and we shared a tissue in front of all of our guests.
We have a new anniversary now, so we won’t celebrate our “meetiversary” with fancy dinners or gifts anymore… but Halloween will always remind me of the night we met and how very far we’ve come. Sometimes it still surprises me how everything worked out — how two people who weren’t each other’s “type” somehow had this immediate connection and wound up married five years later. Really, who would’ve thunk it??
Happy “meetiversary,” Mr. Cupcake. I know sometimes I have a funny way of showing it, but I love you and I love what we have together. In honor of our love and all the fun we have together, here are a few photos from Halloweens past. May we share many more goofy costumes in our life together.

I’d have labeled myself a “DIY novice” before we got engaged. I’d always been interested in creative things, but I never really invested any time or energy into paper creativity before discovering Weddingbee. So, there were a TON of things that I had to buy to get going on my paper projects. Some tools were frivolous, but others, I couldn’t live without, and I wanted to share with you the tools that I bought (or, should have bought) and have gotten my money’s worth out of, 10 times over.
1. Paper cutter - If you know you’re gonna DIY your paper materials then this is the best buy, hands down. I already owned a paper cutter, the kind with the rotary blade (you suck I hate you), and I regret not buying a new one with a big chopping blade. A few months back, Mrs. Daffodil raved about her X-Acto 12″ Laser Paper Trimmer, and I think if I ever take on a big new paper project, I’m going to run out and buy one immediately.
Two of my bridesmaids recently asked me, “Would you mind if I cut my hair?”. I was a little taken aback before responding, “Of course not! Why would I mind? Honestly, the last of my worries is the length of your hair.”
Apparently, and I’ve heard this from multiple people, brides are usually not very enthusiastic about their bridesmaids cutting their hair before the wedding. To be honest, I don’t believe that your girlfriends’ hair has anything to do with how much better or worse your wedding is going to be. I want my girlfriends to look lovely standing there with me, and I could really care less how long their hair is. My MOH eventually got her hair cut in a really cute bob (she’s never had it that short before, and it looks absolutely fabulous) and my BM was pretty close to getting hers cut as well, but then decided to wait until after the wedding. The main reason? She found out that I am going to chop all my hair off right after I say “I do”, and thought it might be fun to go together!
I am SO excited about cutting my hair that I can’t stop thinking about it or talking about it. Sometimes I feel as if I’m more excited about getting rid of it than I am about getting married. Currently, my hair is SUPER long and just so gross. It comes all the way down to my mid to lower back. The last time I had short hair, I brought a picture of Jessica Alba with me and requested her adorable haircut:

I’m going to try to make this as short as possible (no promises… I’m quite the blabbermouth once I get started, I know) as my evenings are now filled to the brim (make that, “overflowing”) with last minute wedding preparations. It’s now T minus 13 days until we leave… but I have soooo much to tell you about still!! Ack!
Way back in the spring when we were creating our invitations, I had this vision of a logo that I wanted to create. For various reasons, it never happened. We got away with not using it, until now! We finally decided what to do about welcome bags and favors, and we realized that we needed one after all.
Note: some people call this a monogram but as Mr Breezy and I are both marketers by day (and cheeseballs by night), and we see it more as a logo. Especially for what we’re doing with them… more on that soon, I promise.
Now, unfortunately, I am not one of you blessedly talented Photoshoppers out there. I don’t have any design programs on my computer nor would I know how to use them. However, I did have a very clear idea in mind of what I wanted—I just needed to translate it into something real in a way that was fast and easy.
So Mr Breezy and I sat down and opened up… Microsoft Powerpoint. That’s right, Powerpoint, as in, your friendly neighborhood presentation software.

By 7:00 AM, I was wide-awake. To be honest, I barely slept. The adrenaline, anxiety, and sheer joy of the moment hindered me from sleeping. I kept eyeing the alarm clock about every hour thinking, “Is it time to get up?” Since we decided to not see one another before the wedding ceremony, I kissed Mr. Cookie goodnight and spent my last night as a single gal with my MOH in a nearby Residence Inn. I tossed, turned, drifted into a fog, and then I was wide-awake.
Although I didn’t get the perfect night’s sleep, I was a ball of energy and nerves. I tried to eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, took two bites, and was done. I could barely eat—too nervous. I guess my inner control freak was getting to me. I was so worried that all the DIY goodness that I had slaved over, and that I reluctantly put into the hands of both our parents to set-up, would not make it to Breckenridge intact. As I reach for my cell phone to appease my nerves, my MOH snatched it from my hands and rushed me to the nearest Starbucks. Once that caffeine hit my bloodstream, ironically the pre-wedding jitters subsided. What can I say, I am totally addicted to coffee and I had the best MOH ever!
We took a quick jaunt over to the hair stylist and then were off to Breckenridge.

Most of the decisions we have to make while planning weddings can be passed off as rather trivial in comparison with things like the economy, political matters, and the many other issues we see on the news and hear about on the radio every day. However, there are a few times when a bride, groom, or a couple may be faced with a choice that will have lasting effects beyond their wedding day. It may be a situation that will strengthen or damage an intimate relationship, or it may be a financial decision that limit freedoms in the future. My dilemma had to do with my dress and my integrity.
Here is Evelyn getting all bustled up. Oh Evelyn, I’m so sorry I trashed you on the big day!
