Mrs. Deviled Egg, PittsburghAge and Occupation: 27, Public RelationsFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, AccountingEngagement Date: December 24, 2007Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: October 21, 2008Venue: Historic auditorium and meeting hall in one of Pittsburgh's commuter citiesAbout Me: I am obsessed with all things crafty, especially scrapbooking, knitting, jewelry-making & cake decorating. I also love being an aunt, wrapping presents, watching football (Go Steelers!), shopping at yard sales and consignment stores, procrastinating, singing and learning to play the guitar. When it comes to wedding planning, I'm excited about working on DIY projects and finding creative ways to stay under budget. Of course, nothing is more exciting to me than knowing that the wonderful Mr. Deviled Egg will be my husband.
Before I was ever engaged (or even met Mr. Deviled Egg), I’d been keeping a mental note of things I’ve loved at weddings and things that I didn’t like. I’m sure all of you have done the same thing. Whether it’s food choices, special dances, timing of the day’s activities, decor or colors, our weddings will be based on things we’ve seen work well and not so well from weddings we’ve attended in the past.
Here are some things that I loved:
- At the last weddings we’ve attended, I loved that there was no bouquet or garter toss. Both Deviled FSIL and Mr. DE’s friend and groomsman omitted this tradition from their receptions. And of course, being a single girl, I couldn’t have been happier. I am not a fan of participating in the bouquet toss. I usually hide in the back of the room or try to sneak to the restroom when I sense the time is coming. Of course, the DJ always gives the microphone to the bride, who in turn calls out the hiding single ladies by name and guilts you into standing in the group of girls. There’s always one or two ladies (usually the engaged ones) who are willing to try to make the catch, but I’m always standing in the back of the crowd, praying that it doesn’t smack me in the head. That said, it’s unlikely there will be a bouquet toss at the Deviled Egg wedding. Read more…

Mrs. Cheese, KnoxvilleAge and Occupation: 29, Engineering ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, CAD DesignerEngagement Date: July 31, 2008Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: October 16, 2008Venue: Our home and the two acres it sits onAbout Me: I’m an emotional girl who loves sentimental things, parenthetical asides, and trying to do things herself. I can cook, sew, am a whiz at planning, terrible at delegating, and totally in love with my fiancé (who will be my second husband but first love of the rest of my life). For our home/ garden/ DIY wedding, we’ll be moonlighting as interior designers, home improvers, and gardeners with the help of our fabulous friends and neighbors. We can’t wait to be married, and are learning how fun getting married can be.
We bought my wedding ring today… and I may or may not be wearing mine while I type this (ssssh, the mister’s in the other room)!
I mean, I HAVE TO in order to blog about it, right? How else will I describe it to you with the accuracy and detail that you expect of me? I’M DOING IT FOR YOU. {That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.}
We took a break from renovating our bathroom (more on that later) to play hooky. We took a dance lesson (more on that later, too), stuffed ourselves with food, hit Best Buy and Sears… and while we wandering the mall to avoid coming home to more work, we stumbled into a jewelry store that was going out of business.
Take a moment to understand the significance here. Jewelry. Store. Clearance. 80%. Discount. Y’all know I’m thrifty (fine, fine, cheap) from the fact that I didn’t even want to pay David’s Bridal prices for a dress, so you have an inkling of the joy that filled my heart. Read more…

I love living with Mr. Peep and our animals: Huck the Dog and Ferris the Cat. I work to save the environment in San Francisco, while Mr. Peep makes ridiculously delicious Olive Oil. On any day you can find me reading the latest book I have gotten my hands on, eating Swedish Fish, and perusing wedding blogs! We are both champagne drinking foodies on a Bud Light budget. We are planning an eco-chic, intimate, and interfaith San Francisco City wedding.
We have already been planning our wedding for eleven months (my God that has flown by), so I have a lot to share. I guess I’ll dig right in and give the engagement story:
Here we are at brunch the morning he proposed.
I wish I could say I had no idea it was coming, but alas, Mr. Peep Toe couldn’t quite hold in the excitement. So on a Sunday morning in December, while still in bed, Mr. PT proposed. As soon as I realized what was going on, I made him get down on one knee. The dog was so confused he immediately attacked Mr. PT, and by attack, I mean slobbered kisses all over his face. Once the dog approved, well, I don’t remember much after that other than crying and shouting out YES!! Read more…

After my trip to the tropical Philippines and coming back to the harsh New York winter, my skin got crazy dry and was flaking everywhere. I needed a new product: a moisturizer, a mask, an exfoliant… something!
I started reading reviews of various products online and came across Fresh’ Sugar Face Polish. It’s a moisturizing exfoliant mask made of brown sugar and strawberries. It’s a little pricey, as all Fresh products tend to be, but the reviews were glowing so I decided to give it a shot.
Mrs. Spring Roll, TampaAge and Occupation: 23, Certified Pharmacy TechnicianFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Concert PhotographerEngagement Date: May 1, 2008Wedding Date: March 2009Blogging Since: September 16, 2008Venue: Beach Social HallAbout Me: I'm the stereotypical girl who enjoys sewing, baking, and decorating. I am blessed to share my life with Mr. Spring Roll and our two shih tzu's, Isabella and Gabriella. Hello Kitty, musicals, Target, and Chick-fil-a are a few of my favorite things. I have a fear of fish and Freddy Krueger. Planning our wedding has become a huge part of my life, and I love every minute of it!
Mr. Spring Roll and I are paying for the majority of our wedding; therefore, we have learned to be very practical. While I would love to have real peonies, dahlias, and hydrangea in my bouquet and at each table, I can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars on flowers. Our practical solution? Artificial flowers. From my bouquet to the centerpieces, all of the flowers at our wedding will be artificial.
If done well, artificial flowers look just as beautiful as real flowers. Take a look at these beautiful crepe peonies, and paper poppy pomanders.
Mrs. Flamingo, Montreal, CanadaAge and Occupation: 25, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Nursing StudentEngagement Date: December 2004Wedding Date: June 21, 2008Venue: Imperia Hotel (modern chic hotel)About Me: I am a passionate designer who loves anything pretty. I heart all paper products (eco-friendly of course). My passion revolves around anything considered glamour; vintage and modern. In my free time, I love reading Martha mags, designing jewelry and making a pit-stop at Starbucks for a chai latte. I'm also a chocoholic at heart and my family drools over my homemade truffles.
Alright I can’t wait any longer and must share this with you. I know I’m not finished doing all my recap posts, but I am way too excited to wait until I am done the recaps. One thing I loved about our wedding was our videographer. We were so lucky to have Wes Jones of Film Jones come to Montreal to film our wedding in 8 mm, not to mention that he was also great to work with. His footage truly captured the whole theme of our Vintage Glam wedding, and I would hire him all over again in a heart beat.
At first Mr. Flamingo didn’t want a wedding video because he didn’t want to force our friends and family to watch a 1 hour video… and I completely understood. But I wanted to have a wedding movie-esque trailer, a short film with all the important moments of the wedding… packed with lots of emotion sort of like a movie. So I went ahead and edited our wedding footage into a really short wedding trailer - a total of 9 minutes. Yup that’s it!
Miss Snapdragon, Chicago/DallasAge and Occupation: 32,Associate ProducerFiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Lighting DesignerBlogging Since: November 14, 2008Engagement Date: January 1, 2011Wedding Date: March 2012Venue: Marie GabrielleAbout Me: Voracious reader of short stories, Russian literature, National Geographic and Cosmo. I'm a GENIUS at spicing up Weight Watchers recipes and a pathological cheater at board games. I run a slow marathon, but my feet are learning to move faster. Mornings aren't my thing, but I can night owl with the best of them. Don't tempt me with your Cherry Cokes---I'm trying to quit. Tomorrow. Or never.
When Mr. Snapdragon and I decided to start planning our wedding, I was most worried about our venue. We needed a place that consolidated all of these elements:
Ability to have all of the wedding events in one place
Over and above being practical… we need to LIKE IT
We need to hold the wedding close to Chicago so Mr. Snap’s family can get there (they are true city folk, with minimal cars!) We needed the ADA-accessibility and affordable hotel rooms for reasons explained here, and the need for a one-stop wedding is a bit obvious. Would YOU want to load up and transport all of the Snapdragons from party to party? Mmmm, no, and I AM a Snapdragon. It will be much better structured in such a way that I get ready at the hotel, my mom can pop in whenever, my siblings can go wherever they want, and my poor Snap-dad (who would have just driven a boatload of Snapdragons 18 hours one-way) can take a break from driving. He is the calm, logical and number crunching finance guy. I can’t even multiply double digit numbers in my head and I am so indecisive that trying to choose between light green or slightly lighter green paper stresses me out (Wedding planning is going to be soooo much fun). We both find great joy in nabbing great seats at the movie theater for a blockbuster movie on opening weekend, and we are both absolutely crazy about snowboarding. And he loves to cook, I love to eat!
A while back, Mr. Martini randomly ran into an old friend. Years ago they were pretty close acquaintances, but it had been a while since they had a chance to get together and over time they lost touch. The first thing he said to Mr. Martini when he saw him was,
“Hey Mr. M! long time no see. You engaged yet?”
“Actually, I am! I’m getting married sometime in March.”
“Why didn’t I get an invite?”
*awkward pause*
“Actually, we’re still finalizing the guest list…”
“Awesome. Can’t wait!”
After a few more minutes of small talk, they said their goodbyes and parted ways. As he turned to cross the street he yelled back, “See you at your wedding!” Read more…

I am obsessed with all things wedding, especially creative ideas for saving money and DIY projects. A Southern Belle at heart, I love anything southern, especially sweet tea, grits, afternoon thunder storms, crab cakes, and good old Southern hospitality. Mr. Crab Cake and I are planning a vintage inspired wedding with tons of Southern flare (can y'all say that with a thick Southern drawl?).
I’ve always been a rule follower. Always. It never mattered how ridiculous or petty the rule might be, I’m going to follow it. At least to the best of my ability.
When we started planning the wedding and I realized that it was taking a very, very traditional route, I knew I had to do something to “buck tradition”. It’s not like I could get married in the church in a pink gown. I wanted to wear a traditional gown; I just wanted to have a little fun with it.
The first time I saw a bride with colored shoes, I was in love. I was determined to have colored shoes.

We’ve been working hard to make it easier to register and sign in into Weddingbee!
Sign in link on Front page: For various technical reasons, you had to go to the Boards tab to sign in. Now you can easily sign in from the Weddingbee frontpage! If you’re not signed in right now, just look up and you should see it.
Pick your own Password: When you registered in the past, our software would email you a randomly generated password. Now you can just pick it yourself! Hopefully this will make it simpler and easier to create an account.
Longer lasting Sign ins: We heard from the Hive that after last week’s software upgrade, the site was forcing people to sign in a lot more often. So we added a “remember me” checkbox, so that you have the choice to sign in just once.
We’re still working on a few little tweaks:
Signing In and Out: When you sign in (or sign out) from the front page, you get redirected to the Boards page. We’re asking some technical gurus for help resolving that one.
Private Messages on Front page: On the Boards page, you can see if you have any private messages… but you can’t see that on the front page. If we added that, the database would get a lot slower. We’re asking for help on this one too.
Ok that’s all for now. Hopefully these changes make it a little bit easier to sign into Weddingbee. Let us know what you think! Posting will be light over the Thanksgiving weekend. Hope you have a great one!

I went to school to study Magazine Journalism, ended up with a second major in Japanese language, and now work at a company that makes software for libraries. I love writing, computers, photography, and the great outdoors. I spend most of my time playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band or geeking out online with Mr. Cherry Pie. I'm happiest when I'm on the road, especially traveling abroad, or just nesting quietly at home with my sweetie, who is a fabulous cook and bakes a delicious rendition of a certain cherry-filled dessert!
Well peeps, I have a confession to make. I murdered my hair.
Ok, so technically it isn’t dead. It may in fact be healthier than ever since I had most of it hacked skillfully off by a certified hairsassin.
I’ve had long hair since I grew out my last “bob” during freshman year of college. Like many of you, I let my hair grow for the wedding, and while I loved the length of my locks, and how they would hold “Jessica Simpson curls” I was also really tired of long-hair maintenance and upkeep. I didn’t like constantly having to brush and de-tangle my hair, and the fact that I was simply too lazy to do anything but ponytail it 90% of the time made me feel sloppy and lazy.
Here’s me and Mrs. Avocado outside a Seattle sushi joint the week before her wedding, an occasion I actually saw fit to “style” for:

I can’t believe that I have been chosen to blog on Weddingbee!! And I am even more excited to be Miss Peep Toe. Who doesn’t love a fabulous peep toe shoe? I, for one, am addicted.
A bit about me: I grew up in the burbs of LA-LA-land and fled as soon as I could to Seattle. Go Huskies!! I left a piece of my heart and most of my best girlfriends in Seattle to find that I really am a California Girl. I moved to San Francisco almost three-and-a-half years ago, and I have fallen in love, both with the area and Mr. Peep.
Just like Miss Deviled Egg, if the Pittsburgh Steelers hadn’t made it to the Super Bowl in 2006, Mr. Peep and I would never have met. In a nutshell, we met at a Pittsburgh Steelers bar watching football almost three years ago. And the best part is, neither one of us are Steelers fans. Read more…
